The Things I Hate About Getting Old

Ya' know? I have to say, the fact that you are the only guy chiming in here and having positive things to say is encouraging. I guess a lot of the insecurities of getting older have to do with the perception of men.

lol I knew I wouldn't be the only guy to post here for very long as Ozzy and Fridge have posted now, and a couple of very nice posts btw. It seems they cherish the women they are with and from reading their posts, I bet they are sort of like me when it comes to women, as in the old saying "I've never met a woman I didn't like" Well almost anyway. I have met a couple but they have been few and far between. I just find women in general to be really something special and they don't have to be beauty queens for me to find them attractive, or to have a long lasting relationship for years on end.

http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/trink39.gif Cheers to women, 'cause they rock the world! http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/1022.gif

"laugh lines"  http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/sarcasm.gif

No shit. I sure as hell am not laughing. Don't have the lines around the eyes or mouth much, but I do have what I call my "parentheses". I've always had them, and how charming to know they will only grow more pronounced.

Ditto on the veins. I love my mom, but have never been happy about inheriting the veiny hands. I've always had sort of "alien hands" anyway - very bony with long, long fingers. I hate them.

At least I am an A-cup boob-wise: nothing to sag to my waist when I'm older!

Okay. About the boob thing. It's the thing I hate the absolute most about getting older. I was 36-24-36 at one, long lost point in my life. I'm not about to give my measurements now, but breast-feeding a total of 35 months of my life between three kids seemed like a good idea at the time. Now, I don't regret nursing my kids, but damn. The "fall-out," let's call it, is pretty pronouced now. I don't have breasts. I have udders. http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/laugh.gif

http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/062802puke_prv.gif

I've also nursed/am nursing and, yeah, the things nursing does to the nips. Oh well I say! Nothing some padded bras can't conceal. I think a woman has every right to say the following to any man who makes a negative comment about a woman who has had children's chest, "Oh yeah? Well at least I don't have ear hair."

The day I have a hairy butt, I'm officially throwing in the towel. http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/laugh.gif

Although, being able to hide under winter clothes and not having to shave legs n' stuff has left me kinda Yeti-ish. So, who am I to talk?

Sort of. We don't lose hair. It just moves from the top of our heads to other places on our bodies where we don't want it.

And getting old isn't easy for guys either. I used to be able to sleep for 8 or 9 hours without having to pee. Now it's a great night if I don't have to drain the lizard around two in the morning. http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/old.gif

You know what I've wondered? Why does hair have to fall out of our heads? Why can't it fall off of body parts we have to routinely remove it, like our legs and underarms? It seems like one of life's great injustices.

QUOTE (Fridge @ Dec 30 2009, 12:41 AM)
Just a thought for those worrying about getting older....

My wife is 51 years old (I'm her toyboy at 42 http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/wink.gif ).

Up until the age of 41, she was the most dynamic, physically active person you could meet. Her hobbies included jungle treking in Indonesia and skydiving (freefall) every weekend. Age was the last thing on her mind.

Flash forward ten years and due to an accident at work she is pretty much wheelchair bound and lives with constant pain. I can assure you that she would swap places in an instant with those of you whose main concerns with aging are wrinkled elbows and laughter lines and back twinges.

However, I still love her as much as when we first met. Men are not as idiotic as you might think, and we tend to fall for the whole package. We don't pick out bits of you that we like oe don't like selectively.

I've no desire to come across as arsey at all here, but if you have your health, are mobile, and can do most of the things you want to then you are most certainly not old....

Thanks for the reminder, Fridge. http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/smile.gif

I'm sorry your wife is in so much pain. It can't be easy for either of you. http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/sad.gif

I try not to stress too much about the bags/grey hairs/wrinkles and gravity because I know I'm likely to end up with assorted artificial joints and disabling rheumatoid arthritis like my mother, but I know I'm guilty of moaning sometimes.

Absolutely. I don't take for granted at all the fact that I am really healthy.

It's bad enough in the summer. I started using reading glasses too about a year or two ago, for reading naturally, and to see the computer. I used to be able to read a phone book in the dark! Thank you for the perspective, Fridge. Sometimes it is much-needed.

Your wife chose well in the husband sweepstakes as well. I work with a woman who is just now starting to get her life back to "normal" this past year; her dick of a husband high-tailed it when she was in the middle of her second bout with breast cancer.

Well said P!

Our parents and grandparents before them, have always told us ~ that beauty is in the INSIDE.

Thank you for bringing back to light that important aspect of the conversation.

It's heartwarming to know that the spark is there for you and "The Lovely" regardless of the changes that life has thrown at you and she.

All I know is I hope when I get to be my mom's age (51) I still look that great. She still looks like she's in her 30s and her partner is quite a bit younger than her which I guess makes her a cougar. http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/laugh.gif http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/wub.gif

^^^^^or back hair!  http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/scared.gif GAAAA!!!

Dig the MuMu, Janie!!! (and forgive me if that is not what it is!)  http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/smile.gif

Or a hairy butt! http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/tongue.gif

The day I have a hairy butt, I'm officially throwing in the towel. http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/laugh.gif

Although, being able to hide under winter clothes and not having to shave legs n' stuff has left me kinda Yeti-ish. So, who am I to talk?

So as men get older they start turning into Yeti's?

Sort of. We don't lose hair. It just moves from the top of our heads to other places on our bodies where we don't want it.

Ah yes... the phenomenon I call The Retreating Hairline.

All I know is I hope when I get to be my mom's age (51) I still look that great. She still looks like she's in her 30s and her partner is quite a bit younger than her which I guess makes her a cougar. http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/laugh.gif http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/wub.gif

Luckily for me I have a bald back and chest and arms, but more hair on my head than a pack of wolves and posse of bears shitting in the woods together...

No kidding. You never need to worry about freezing to death, as you can just wrap yourself up in your hair if need be!
