  1. You must visit Ireland - it is a truly beautiful country. I saw Rush in Dublin in 2011. Such an incredible atmosphere in the city beforehand, with all the fans in Rush T shirts sharing a knowing nod of anticipation. Though it’s just a memory, some memories last forever.
  2. I’m still all over the place. I’ve been on a diet of mostly Rush. Still feels unreal. We’ve been planning a trip to Ontario and New England for a few weeks and now I’m absolutely determined to weave in a visit to Lakeside Park. I had previously declared no interest in seeing Niagara again when there are so many other wonders to see, but I have obviously changed my mind. My husband is onto me, but seems to be happy to humour his mad wife. Still glad you lot are here to make me feel less deranged.
  3. Ooh spooky. Got my iPod on shuffle. The last song, while I was typing my last post, was The Garden (which brought me here) and now we have Thin Lizzy. It’s a sign, I tell you.
  4. Sounds like a good plan. Have you seen the full dinner video? Hysterical: Yes I had, but I shall watch it again thank you.
  5. On a weekday day off today on my own, so I’ve put on Beyond the Lighted stage. The section about the Ghost Rider, and the end clip in the restaurant, are especially poignant, seeing the love between the guys. Neil’s lyrics may have been the single biggest philosophical influence on me. I don’t think I had realised. We’re currently planning a trip to Canada for September, flying home to the UK from Toronto after a few days at Algonquin. It’s not on the itinerary but I think I am going to have to build in a trip to St Catherine’s to sit on the sand at Lakeside Park.
  6. Well, this isn’t getting any easier. I haven’t dared listen to any Rush yet. The lyrics popping up in my head are hard enough to listen to, without actually hearing them. I’m glad you guys are all here, reminding me that I’m not alone in this strange grief.
  7. i thought of you when my son texted me the news, and so I came back after all this time away, to find some comfort with my Rush family. I’m sure I’m one of many.
  8. Not been here for years, but back today to pay tribute to the Professor. It seems so unfair. The bell tolls for thee.
  9. I am sorry you're having a tough time. It's not clear from your post whether the split is amicable or not - of course it helps hugely if it can be, and if they are not trying to make you take sides. As already said, this isn't your fault, nor is it your responsibility to make your relationships with both of them work, but you sound as though you have a good attitude towards the situation which will help both them and you. My parents divorced when I was 17 (in 1983!!) and although I don't think either of them dealt very well with my brother and me at the time, we're fairly unscathed and certainly everyone's happier than they would have been if they stayed together. You will be OK. At the moment it's a shock and will be upsetting, and it's absolutely OK to be upset, but you will find a way through it. Does your school or college have counselling facilities? I think you have several good reasons to get some professional support through this. Good luck. And have a hug from one of your Rush aunties.
  10. We were at Dublin, Manchester and Newcastle and imo the gigs improved as we went along. Not sure whether that was because our seats improved in that order, or because we were able to stand in the tiered seating at Newcastle, or whether the guys were just better at Newcastle. Certainly there were more smiles from Neil and they really seemed to be enjoying themselves. I thought the sound was better than Dublin and can't really fault Geddy's singing. Sure there were a couple of sticky moments with the high notes but he sang the high bit in Freewill brilliantly. Maybe I'm insufficiently critical but I thought the set worked. It seemed to me that the themes were time and faith book-ended with a couple of the obligatory standards. I have no complaints. (Apart from about the hotel which was horrific). I now have the entire catalogue playing on random in my brain. Today I have mostly been hearing 2112 with a bit of Farewell to Kings.

  13. QUOTE (Xanadu Princess @ Nov 21 2010, 02:33 PM) QUOTE (LaVilla @ Nov 21 2010, 01:40 AM)What was the chances of someone from Paisley being on this board, Lol, And congrats on the 2nd row, And best of luck this time round ;-) LOL I dont think I'mgoing to get a decent ticket this time around though, when the presale happens and the general sale tickets go on sale, I will be working both days and canny get online if the supervisor is hovering around which she always does apart from 1-2pm when she is on lunch but by that time all the front row tix will be long gone . I will have to rely on my pal to try and get good tickets. Aww if you worked for me I'd let you have an early tea break. I let two of my team book their Take That tickets at 9am a couple of weeks ago (yes, yes, I know). Ask - you never know your luck!
