Queen of Megadon Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 ok---i just saw Billy Squier on Vh1's 100 Greatest Rock Songs! (yes, i'm watching 20-1 countdown again...had to see RUSH!) i digress a little backstory... once upon a time when we had denim jackets painted with our favorite bands on the back, there was a resident cool guy who did jackets for like 50 bucks. My mom would have none of it....she was an artist. No joke, really, she went to NY Art and Design...she had some talent. well, we went with the cover of the 45 of IN THE DARK....black, white, red...very cool--i had a thing for Billy's music back in the day, its still a jukebox fave. ANYWAY, i digress again-- I CANNOT BELIEVE how he looks....oh his once long glorious hair, that dark mysterious face...gone baby gone. *sigh*

My sister was totally in love with him in the 80's! BTW, does anybody think Brett Micheals is a douche? And don't get me started on Sebastian Bach..
Queen of Megadon Posted January 4, 2009 Author Posted January 4, 2009 Brett Michaels is just sad I thought when Sebastian was talking about RUSH earlier in the countdown that it was cool stuff he was saying... but then he went and said Axl Rose was the greatest singer ever and now i'm done with him

Indeed he is a sad fellow. I respect that Sebastian Bach gives props to Rush, but he was on a VH1 show last year, SuperGroup, and he just acted like such a whiny b*tch. And all through this countdown, he's acted like some bigshot that knows about metal and hard rock, just because he was lead singer of Skid Row.
Arleen2112 Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Don't get me started about Sebastian Bach(I Can't Stand Him) Here is a neat picture of him and Geddy though http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg174/Arleen66/bazgeddy.jpg
nobodys hero Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 I was amazed at how bad Squier looked. David Coverdale didn't fare much better. As for Brett Michaels, how many of you think he is bald under that do-rag and hat? The eye make-up needs to go also. I watched Supergroup and Sebastian Bach was a real douche
Steevo Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 I've always wondered about BS during the 80s as he was in a lot of the mags I used to read back then. What's the one song that has come to define him? I shall search it out
Queen of Megadon Posted January 5, 2009 Author Posted January 5, 2009 oh jeez...what ONE song defines Billy Squier? hmm I'd think people know him now just for "Christmas is the Time to Say I love you" but for his regular stuff? i dont think there is just one

rnrgal Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 I always liked BS's music. Never really thought he was that hot lookin' anyway. OK, but not hawt. SB is a major douche and has been long before this decade. Kind of an embarrassment that he often talks about being such a Rush fan. Gives us a bad image. BM - definitely a douche, too. Never could stand Poison Now I've got "The Stroke" stuck in my head!
theredtamasrule Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Squire didn't look as bad as most of old bastards on the countdown. Those old rockers look f***ing laughable rocking the long hair, beer bellies (or thin as rails) and serious f***ing wrinkles...aghhh! You're old ya bastards, eat a salad, put down the needle, get a haircut and try looking like a respectable middle-aged man like...say, oh I don't know...Rush. I know Ged goes with the long hair but at least he washes it & keeps it looking clean unlike the old drunk junkie f*cks on that show. Don Dokken looks like an old douchebag trying waaaaay too hard to look young with that ridiculous looking perm. Lita Ford on the other hand still looks f***ing hot however and so does Joan Jett except for the buzz cut, the one old rocker that cut their hair didn't have to oddly enough.

Nothing sadder than aging rockers is there?? Ged's appearance is remarkable, infact he has got better with age than most

He'd just look stupid with that hair now. And he appears to be in good health.

I watched Supergroup and Sebastian Bach was a real douche Oh, poor David Coverdale, it appears that he has a whole different face these days. I don't know if he's had surgery or what but he sure hasn't aged as well as I hoped. Another one that is aging badly is Kevin Cronin.. love him and that voice, but wow.. Sebastian Bach always seems to act like an idiot but he was certainly easy on the eyes back in the early 90's. One of the best photos I've ever seen on the cover of Rolling Stone was him sometime in '91 I think. Oh, and I feel no sorrow for Brett Michaels, he's got to be bald under that bad hairpiece and bandana. That hair looks like barbie doll hair.
MargoMitchell Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Brett Michales and Sebastian Bach are a couple of "wanna be's" that never will be. And they are both UGLY!! I never thought they were cute back in the day. Alex, Neil and Geddy can step all over them for all I care. As for Billy Squire, I remember he opened for Foreigner on the 4 Tour in 1981 and I thought he was so cute. He does look a lot different. I heard that David Coverdale is sick, but not sure if that is true or what he even may have.
librarian Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 I thought Squier aged fine to me - He's 58, what do you want him to look like? Shame on VH1 and their crappy programs - I never liked Poison, but have absolutely NO respect for Michaels at all (not to mention Flavor Flav and I love New York ) - just watching the commercial for the love bus thing, I feel like I'm losing IQ points.
ozzy85 Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Everyone gets older, whether you're an aging rock star or a bloated old yuppie in rumply tan khakis. Maybe some pull it off better than others. I guess the key is not trying to look 21 forever or hip and cool. I'm graying fast. I ain't cutting it, though.
Natch Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Well, I can't say that I liked Billy Squier for his looks back in the day. I was a fan of the music. But, seeing him on VH1 the other night made me feel old. Yeah, he looks old. I wasn't shocked though. I didn't think he still looked the same as he did in those videos from the early 80s. It'd be great to see him on tour again.

And this was the pic my mom used to paint my denim jacket... http://i443.photobucket.com/albums/qq153/BleuMegadon/squier.jpg
Kid_Gloves Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Senior year I wrote Billy Squier a letter asking him to play my prom.

HA! really did you?? and you're relatively young...he was past his "prime"--cool that you were still digging his music! did he answer you??
rushgoober Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 I saw Billy Squier twice in the 80's and he was pretty decent. His music started getting a little too cheesy for me after that...
GeddysMullet Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 All I can say is...Not everyone can be Geddy Lee!
