Hatchetaxe&saw
QUOTE (The Owl @ Oct 10 2009, 08:53 PM) has anyone listened to the live album from the Ladder tour? "Live at the House of Blues" Is it any good? Or should I go ahead and get Yesshows first? House of Blues is very good, but go for Yesshows first. Yesshows is great, but was not approved by Anderson, Howe, Wakeman or White (though he probably did not care one way or another). Squire did it mainly on his own after Yes had stopped in late 1980/early 1981. Get it anyway. It is good.

I love the album.... Circus of Heaven is my favorite cut from that album I think "Tormato" is OK, although I have to be in a mood for that album. "Circus of Heaven" is the one song on Tormato that many fans feel is the worst. I like it alright, but I see why many would not.

Which is interesting because it was that year that everything came crashing down around the band, beginning with Alan White breaking his foot keeping the band from recording a new album. Xanadu93
IMPORTANT NEWS TO FORGOTTENYESTERDAYS.ORG USERS: I just went there to look up the Rock in Rio lineup and setlist, and my antivirus made me redirect back to TRF - it said something about malware or something. Anyways, if you visit it, I wouldn't recommend using the site. It's been kinda fucky the last few times I've visited.

GrandDesigner
I forget if I posted in this thread already...but as I've been on a HUGE Yes kick lately after not listening to them since I bought their newest remasters 5 years ago, I feel compelled to post in here. My top 5 list! (my omission of certain well-loved albums might surprise a few) 1. Relayer. It boggles my mind that mere humans could create something as magnificent as The Gates Of Delirium. Probably the best prog "epic" ever made. I could listen to it all day. To Be Over also makes me feel tingly, and Sound Chaser is probably the most fun Yes song I've ever heard. 2. Tales From Topographic Oceans. I don't know how, but I can remember every single note and lyric from this album. Sprawling and intense, Ritual is my favorite movement, although the Leaves Of Green section of The Ancient might be my singular favorite moment in all 80 minutes. 3. Close To The Edge. It's their classic album. 3 songs in 40 minutes, not a dull moment. I Get Up, I Get Down is my favorite moment of the entire disc, and the main riff of Siberian Khatru is Steve's coolest guitar riff EVER 4. Going For The One. Awaken and Turn Of The Century are stunning, and this is definitely the end of Yes's glory days. They'd never hit such expansive heights ever again. The other songs are cool too, but SO overshadowed. 5. Big Generator. AHHH!!! I must be the only person on Earth who finds this album brilliant. Not a single moment I dislike on here (...well, maybe the "chez nous" lyric...). I'm Running is probably tied with Sound Chaser for most fun Yes song to listen to. The songs feel more artsy than 90125 (which falls almost dead last on my list of favorite albums, just slightly out-sucked by Open Your Eyes). That was FUN! Probably the best prog "epic" ever made. I love every version of TGOD, including the Yesshows and Symphonic version. I still can't figure out how they ever pulled off TGOD live with an orchestra. Mostly thanks to Alan, I think.
