Spindrift82
QUOTE (Xanadu93 @ Apr 9 2009, 11:51 AM) QUOTE (Hatchetaxe&saw @ Apr 9 2009, 07:53 AM) A cd worth mentioning is 90124. It's basically a bunch of Trevor's demos, most of which made it onto 90125, Talk, Big Gen & Union. It's good to hear so many classics at their nascent stages. A must have for completists. It's on Amazon. I want to get that cd, but I don't yet own Union or Talk - so it'll have to wait. I did sample a few tracks fro it on iTunes, they sound pretty good! It's good, I have it. Very interesting if you want to hear how the Yes songs from 90125 progressed.
Xanadu93
Jaye - I really need to get more music, then again I need money to buy albums! I've got Jon's Three Ships, and it's the only solo material I have by any of the members of Yes. Come this summer, when I have waaaaay more money (I've spent somewhere around $200 on recording software, three Genesis cd's, a Depeche Mode cd, and a My Chemical Romance cd), I'll get the solo stuff I've had on my list for months, as well as getting to work on my albums list. Xanadu93
I was listening to a boot from 1988, the song was "Heart of the Sunrise" (one of my fave Yes tracks, live or studio), and I thought - Trevor does a pretty darn good job filling in for Steve's parts, but Tony can't handle Rick's stuff! Trevor has to play Rick's Moog line in the middle, and Tony is sloppy in the piano part right before "straight light moving and removing sharpness of the color sunshine". Related to Tony and Rick... I watched the all-access video with 9012Live (the bonus stuff was as good as/better than the concert), and Tony seemed like he didn't like Rick; I remember him saying he was glad he wasn't Rick Wakeman. Is this due to his being fired from/leaving the band? Or is this from something else?
metaldad
QUOTE (Hatchetaxe&saw @ Apr 10 2009, 04:06 AM) It's an awful mish-mash. that is prob the best way to sum that album up
Xanadu93
ohmygodohmygodohmygodohmyGOD! (sorry for the over-dramatic entry ) From YesWorld: "Alan White will be performing the music of John Lennon with an all-star band at a show to benefit the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Puget Sound Affiliate. Chris Squire is slated to perform in the band. The event will be held on April 18 at the new Snoqualmie Casino Ballroom in Snoqualmie, Washington. UPDATE: Trevor Rabin has confirmed that he will be participating in this benefit. This marks the first time that Alan, Chris, and Trevor have played together since the Prince's Trust concert in 2004. (F**k yeah! ) Visit the Snoqualmie Casino site for more information, and click here to purchase tickets at Ticketmaster." Trevor, Steve's gone to tour with Asia, why don't you get back together with Yes? We need some guitar tone in the band, I think you can handle it. Hatchetaxe&saw
Wow! Just read this, Yes and Asia playing together July 3rd in the Mountain Winery, Saratoga, California. It's on the winery website. Yeah, think I'll take in a European show or two, wasn't initially sold on Benoit, but from what I've seen & heard on Youtube, he's certainly got the voice. Asia I can take or leave, but Heat of the Moment is an awesome track. Edited April 14, 2009 by Hatchetaxe&saw

Wonder if Geoff will join Yes for a few tracks - I'd expect him to play on some Drama tracks, assuming they play something from that album. EDIT: I'm looking at the Yes/Asia thread at YesFans, and one guy had a good idea: "Maybe if Chris, Alan and Trevor get along well next weekend they can con him into sharing the load of guitar work for the yes part of the up coming Yes/Asia tour!? (come on a guy can dream right?)" ...or at least, let Trevor play "Owner", and dig out "Rhythm of Love" Edited April 14, 2009 by Xanadu93
naturalsciences101
I admit that I haven't been paying real close attention as of late, but, what kinda YES are we talking about here, on tour in 2009? Isn't both Chris Squire and Jon Anderson out of commission at this point? I think that this band moving forward without Jon is travesty enough. Now they gonna forge ahead without Chris too, or is he fit enough to work? At what point do they finally say enough's enough and let's retire and enjoy our families and our money. Well, Chris is out of hospital now. Maybe they know he'll be OK to perform by July. Anyway, surely they can't call it Yes without Chris, since he has the rights to the name. Chris is the sole owner of the Yes name? I got the reason why they didn't call it Yes during the last tour was out of respect for Jon, plus the diehards would know the name. I still called it Yes (it's a little easier to say . I think calling it "Asia/Yes" is easier than calling it "Howe, Squire and White featuring Benoit David and Oliver Wakeman/Asia". naturalsciences101
QUOTE (circumstantial tree @ Apr 15 2009, 10:58 AM) I think Yes should just stop. YES. Yes, indeed. Right now they still can be remembered as a highly innovative band with an incredibly rich history full of musical integrity... But, these guys are also like a year or two away from from becoming a band like Foreigner who lumbers on with only one original member, while they get constantly demoted down to doing the wedding and bar mitzvah circuit. In a few years we might all be able to afford Yes for our backyard Summer parties. Then again, the only person left and affiliated with the Yes name might just be the lighting and sound guys at that point.
Spindrift82
If Jon isn't going to be there, I'm not going. Benoit was horrible (I listened to a few boots, and he hit bad notes all over the place), and it isn't Yes to me without Jon. I think they should wait until Jon gets better before going on with the band. Right now, they're making a mockery out of themselves.
