QUOTE (treeduck @ Jun 23 2008, 01:26 AM)
George Carlin died of heart failure yesterday age 71. A sad loss, he was a pioneer and a great comedian and commentator, RIP George...

This is the biggest loss in comedy in history, IMO. George's humor lead to everything we know today to be funny. He was brilliant and hilarious. Im truly saddened by this. sad.gif rose.gif

He once said, regarding Richard Pryor, another genius, "Well Richard had a heart attack, then I had a heart attack, then Richard blew himself up, and I said... f-ck that, I'll have another heart attack!" He led that bit off by saying he led Richard 2-1 in heart attacks, but in blowing himself up, Richard led 1-0.

I loved George Carlin, and attribute a lot of my style of sarcasm and humor to him. He could always make me laugh out loud. Im so sorry he's gone.

Great comedian and a true pioneer. I love his 70s albums Class Clown and Occupation: Fool. Love his humor, love his politics, and have seen him live once (although it wasn't a great tour; too much fart humor and not enough real substance). I'll never forget his bit comparing baseball to football, or his ability to really look slantedly at the english language. (The word "one." Where's the W? The word "two." There's a W you don't pronounce; give that W to "one.")

Carlin was an atheist who thought life was a cosmic fluke. Maybe now he's gotten a different answer. RIP, George. rose.gif
