  1. He favors a young Namath a lot, but it takes more than a resemblance to accurately transform into someone else..
  2. I don't know anything about this guy, haven't seen nary a movie of his. The reason I'm asking is because he's set to play Joe Namath in a movie. Now, I'm a sports history buff and I like sports movies. Joe Namath is probably the most charismatic sports figure in American history, next to Muhammad Ali. I'm wondering if Gyllenhaal has the range to pull this off. From what I've read about Jake, he's very sullen and moody--which are fine traits for a good actor, but not if he wants to portray a good Joe Namath. Anyone think he can do it?
  3. Both CNN and MSNBC have confirmed the death...
  4. The Chronicles Of Narnia: Prince Caspian---7/10.
  5. Remember when this guy was actually kinda funny? Well, my girlfriend and I were at the theater (which has unfortunately become a nauseating experience) to see Narnia II and one of the previews was for a new Eddie Murphy outfit called "Meet Dave". Yes, it has the potential to be the biggest Murphy bomb ever...which is saying something. The cinema has lost its way, man...movies are lost, hopeless. Every single preview that nite was garbage.
  6. The plot outline for "The Strangers" from IMDB: A young couple staying in an isolated vacation home are terrorized by three unknown assailants. Hmm..seems like that's been before---about one million times.
  7. QUOTE (iluvgeddy05 @ Jun 9 2008, 10:29 AM) QUOTE (Sark @ Jun 9 2008, 09:12 AM) With all the DUI's, reckless drivers, and accidents out there, it's good to know they are cracking down on that evil license plate altering crowd! SHEESH! It's most likely a quota situation. It's a royal pain, but if you go to court, there's a good chance the cop won't show up and it will get thrown out. At the very least, it will get reduced. I understand the cop was doing his job, but I don't get the attitude they usually seem to have. I was pulled over for something similar, and the cop acted like I just ran his Mom over or something. Exactly. How is an altered liscense plate more harmful than robbing a bank, or murders and dealing drugs? Hell, how is it worse than speeding?! Not saying the cop shouldn't have pulled him over for it, but telling him he should be in jail -- really?? Not to offend any police officers on this forum, but all the ones I've come across (or friends and family have dealth with) have been more into asserting their power over YOU than making a community safe. That's such a stupid argument. So just because people rob banks and rape and murder and pillage, all other aspects of criminal behavior should be ignored? You do realize that certain divisions of police departments deal with certain crimes? A traffic cop isn't investigating homicides and rapes. He was doing his damn job. Power trip or no power trip, if the plate hadn't been illegally altered then the trouble never would have happened. I suggest to the OP that he man up and take responsibility for his actions..and stop blaming others when he f*cks up.
  8. The cop was absolutely in the right. Altering a plate is illegal. I love it when people knowingly break the law, then get mad at law enforcement for doing their job.
  9. Hot, hot, hot...and only gonna get hotter as we get into July and August. Summertime in the Deep South--heat, humidity, mosquitoes, alligators, rain. Gotta love it.
  10. The reviews I've read have slammed this movie to no end. I'm not an Adam Sandler fan anyway, I kinda wish he and Will Ferrell would dive over Niagara Falls together.
  11. Anyone here seen it? My girlfriend and I are going to watch it a week from tomorrow. Without giving spoilers, how was it? You know..good, bad, in between?
  12. QUOTE (Gompers @ Jun 5 2008, 03:03 PM) QUOTE (subdivider79 @ Jun 5 2008, 03:58 PM) Definitely Dogs, followed by Sheep, Pigs, and then Pigs On The Wing. The latter isn't something I feel needs to be on the album, it's pretty much filler...although I do have a bootleg recording of Animals, where Gilmour throws in a nice extended solo between the two parts. I have heard that there is something out there of a studio recording with the two acoustic pieces meshed with a electric lead solo in the middle. Is this just rumor? I haven't heard anything about a studio version. The live bootleg I have is from 1977, in Canada...

  14. QUOTE (Merely Space @ May 15 2008, 02:32 PM) The sad thing here to me is that everyone is taking the OP's (not rushfr:CP, the guy he quoted) post at face value. I find the rebuttals much more plausible. But everyone seems so ready to believe Neil is a dick, you can say anything about him and it will be accepted. I'm not basing one single aspect of my analysis of Mr. Peart on the original post.
