ReRushed
I think movies like After Hours and Quick Change are pretty intense. Characters with a simple objective who are stuck in circumstances and surrounded by people they have no control over. I love those types of movies. Where the speed of the bus couldn't drop below 50 clicks... and Keanu Reeves was in it and he had to make sure the bus kept speeding or if the speed dropped it would blow up? I think it was called The Bus that had to go 50?

Necromancer
I just saw BULLY and I thought that was pretty intense. It unnerved me that this was a true story about CHILDREN. The kill scene is brutal. I also thought Alpha Dog was intense. It actually had me crying. I hear that AWAKE is supposed to be VERY intense. Dying to see it. circumstantial tree
QUOTE (Janie @ Mar 24 2008, 03:42 PM) QUOTE (circumstantial tree @ Mar 24 2008, 09:28 AM) "Big Fish" by Tim Burton was one of those, I guess. I loved Big Fish. Loved it. So sad though. It reminded me of another movie that is way up there on the favorite list: Ma Vie En Rose. I've been interested in seeing that one as well. Rushian King
Another one is Ma Mere http://imdb.com/title/tt0381392/ which I didn't think was very good but it can be disturbing/gross. The Piano Teacher's Isabelle Huppert is in this one too. I guess she likes to take risky roles. Also made by women is Baise-Moi. http://imdb.com/title/tt0249380/ And of course Catherine Breillat's films get anyone who sees them upset one way or another. Some of her more outlandish work: Anatomy Of Hell http://imdb.com/title/tt0348529/ A Ma Soeur! (terribly named Fat Girl in English-- it's actually a good movie, the best film I've seen from her) http://imdb.com/title/tt0243255/ Romance http://imdb.com/title/tt0194314/ 36 Fillette (pretty good) http://imdb.com/title/tt0094596/ Please note that A Ma Soeur has a very disturbing scene which many people on this board (if the Salo thread was any indication) would find unacceptable to be portrayed in film, regardless of how good the movie surrounding it is or how sincere the artist is to making art.
