rushgoober
QUOTE (Larks @ Jan 10 2008, 05:02 AM) you know from my user name that i'm a huge fan.. they introduced me to Prog music.. all the albums from the first one to Discipline are a must(umm except Islands maybe..) indeed, of all the albums from the original incarnation of the band (1969-1974), islands is the one throwaway. all of the rest are well worth owning and most of them are brilliant... Hatchetaxe&saw
Astonishing group, every incarnation. I have every album, on CD and vinyl. My most prized possessions are a mint vinyl copy of Absent Lovers and a half-speed vinyl master of Lark's Tongue In Aspic. Got the 4 cd The Great Deceiver during the week. Carlsberg don't do live albums but if they did............. Mind-blowing.

I saw a guy at the Sacramento Rush concert with that T-shirt on. When he walked by I said "awesome shirt man!". He said "I know."

Larks
QUOTE (tick @ Jan 11 2008, 01:01 AM) In the court of the crimson king is a hauntingly amazing song. Whenever i hear it it just stays with me. true. they just dont make those kind of albums anymore first time i cried from a song was Epitaph, the only bad part of the album is the improvisation part on Moonchild, i like improvisation but its way to boring and long. Mandalorian Hunter
I have a particularly fond memory of KC. It was in July 2005, and I was about to go to Italy for two weeks, so decided to buy the Q magazine prog-rock special. I read this religiously for two weeks, and had found out alot about bands that i'd never even heard of. Apart from Rush, which was the reason I bought it. Anyway, I was so captivated by the King Crimson article. The words 'Evil music' enticed me. The day after the plane landed I rushed into my local record store, itching to buy In The Court of the Crimson King. They had it in (hurray!). Now, two and a half years later, I can honestly say that my musical life changed because of that album. I purchased a couple of Yes albums, but they didn't have the same effect. Hearing '...Crimson King' for the first time still remains one of my best musical memories ever. Put simply, without this record, I would have just liked hard rock. But it really did change my life; my musical inspirations, and actual life at the time. It made want to be intelligent, be different. I can honestly say I may not be in university right now if I'd never bought that album. And that, Ladies and gentlemen, is why King Crimson rules. RUSHHEAD666
Hey Finbar! What's up man? I haven't been on here much lately! Glad to see that you are back posting again. If memory serves me correctly I think you took some time off too during the RUSH TOUR! Anyway, it's a given that KING CRIMSON KICKS ASS! I prefer the BRUFORD stuff!! Bill Bruford is INCREDIBLE!! I worked at Walnut Creek Safeway back in the late Nineties, and a cool customer at the time told me she was related to Robert Fripp. I can't remember how. I think cousin or something like that. Anyway she came back the next day into the store and told me to come out to her car. Sure enough she showed me a nice picture of her and Robert hugging each other. Classic. I remember seeing Crimson open up for TOOL at the Berkeley Community Theatre. Fripp just sat there in his chair and jammed in the dark. Kind of eerie, but hey that's him. I also saw Fripp open for Porcupine Tree once. He did all of these annoying whale sounds through his guitar in the dark. Pure genius that went over my head. PROG ON!!! I own every King Crimson cd in a Japanese cardboard sleeve. I just picked up the Japanese promo box with two cardboard sleeves entitled THE GREAT DECEIVER. I also found a nice Japanese pressing in cardboard calld CIRKUS. It's endless man. As you know I go for the Japanese stuff. Much better sound and craftmanship goes into the all around product. The Japanese love to press KING CRIMSON shit. I have all of those King Crimson LIVE VOLUMES from Japan. It's endless really, just like this post! LOL!!! Yeah, RUSH RULES! Kudzu
I have Discipline, Beat, Three of a Perfect Pair, and THRAK. I think all four are rather uneven, but they've all needed a bit of time to grow on me. "Matte Kudasai", "Discipline", "Waiting Man", "Three of a Perfect Pair", "Walking on Air", "People", and "One Time" are all fantastic songs.
