Ru5h F@n
I met George C. Scott when he was filming "The Changeling" back in 1979. That was so cool. We weren't allowed to ask for autographs but we could talk to him.
TheRocinanteKid
Met Phil Collen and Rick Savage from Def Leppard. Spoken to loads of guys from '80s Hair Metal bands for interviews. Phone/email but never in person, sadly.
Weatherman2112
Being in the TV business (yes, I'm a Weatherman), I have met several. One of my more humorous encounters was doing the weather with Henry Winkler (The Fonz). He was very funny. We were both up there at the same time doing the forecast. He kept interupting me with his input. It really was hilarious! I got emails from viewers for months after that one. My apologies to anyone that actually wanted a forecast that day! goose
Last night I had an interesting encounter. I was dropping off my daughter at a slumber party and the father of the birthday girl turned out to be cinematographer Joe Valentine. We had a nice chat, and he filled me in on his career and adventures behind the Hollywood camera. His most recent camera work is seen the air scenes from "Quantum of Solace", which apparently were filmed in Mexico (I haven't seen the film, but now feel I have to ). More on Joe... http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0884253/#cinematographer Joe actually won an Oscar for his work on the 1976 Olympics, carrying on the tradition of his father, whose original movie posters adorn their home. Joe Senior has a great legacy in Hollywood, including work on a number of Hitchcock films such as "Saboteur". He won an Oscar for his work on Joan of Arc. http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?p...gr&GRid=6954522 Edited December 6, 2008 by goose
Rushian King
The biggest 'chance' meeting off the top of my head was Kris Kristofferson years ago. I was walking towards a library to work on a school assignment. We were standing at a light and 2 women in front noticed him and one said he looked like Kris Kristofferson. I looked at him and said you are aren't you and he said yes. I asked him what he was doing in town and he said he was filming a movie called Millenium. As we were walking we got to his destination, a strip club, and he invited me to join him. I said no. Dammit, I should've said fvck the my assignment! Oh well. In my years volunteering at and attending the local film festival I've met/seen a few celebs such as Ed Harris, Jamie Foxx, Bill Pullman, Julia Stiles, Sofia Loren and Lou Reed. Plus lots of directors. Years ago I also used to work at a restaurant whose owner had some friendships within the Toronto Maple Leafs. I met Peter Ihnacak, his brother, Mirolsav Frycer and Tie Domi. It was next to a strip club so some semi-famous features might come in, the most notable being Chesty Morgan. I also worked at a video store which had customers such as Atom Egoyan, his wife, Rick Mercer, Fab Filippo (Billable Hours), plus other minor actors and musicians. VampireBiscuits
QUOTE (rushgoober @ Nov 22 2006, 08:11 AM) ...Have seen close up but didn't meet: Crispin Glover... I was fortunate enough to get to meet Crispin Glover. He was very accommodating and friendly, I even got a picture with him; http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb162/SecurityKitten/crispinm.jpg I've also met Richard Kiel (Jaws from the Bond movies) he lived in the same town I did for most of my life, hes got a very intimidating presence but he couldn't be nicer! And I've had a few sightings, but they weren't anymore than that; Lars Ulrich at an art show in San Francisco and Nancy Pelosi at a similar event. This weekend I'm going to go see Leonard Nimoy narrate Peter and the Wolf, and with any luck I might get the chance to say hello.

Yeah I would be apprehensive about approaching a celebrity while they were going about their daily business as well. I met him at a showing of his directorial film, What is It? And there was a formal meet and greet session- much more comfortable.

Albone2112
QUOTE (goose @ Dec 7 2008, 11:48 PM) Met Johnny Bench in a club in Palm Springs. He seemed less than thrilled to be recognized, but was cool about the whole thing. One of my dad's best friends worked for the Reds back in the 70's and got him into the clubhouse one time. My mom absolutely LOVED Johnny Bench and wanted an autograph, so my dad bought a poster and took it into the clubhouse with him. He approached Johnny Bench to sign and he was a total prick about it, but he signed it and I have it framed. As for celebrities, I have met the following: Music: Loretta Lynn (sweet lady) Roy Clark Little Jimmy Dickens Steve Wariner Robin Zander Bun E. Carlos Tom Petersson Gene Simmons Wrestlers: Jerry Lawler Kane Bill Dundee Also met Erik Estrada.
