My last concert in Toronto (July 9th, 2008) I flew all the way from San Francisco to see it and it was completely worth it. I was very close to the stage and my husband caught one of the 'Henhouse' shirts that Geddy threw. The energy there was just amazing, much more so than any of the U.S. concerts I'd been to (Canada, you guys rock!)

Especially Jacob's Ladder and Blade Runner. If you like those, try some of the others on my list if you haven't seen them. Will do! I've seen most of them, but there are a few (eXistenZ, Zardoz, Brainstorm and Repo Man) that I haven't seen. I'll definitely give them a try, I liked everything else on your list!

  3. A few of the movies that first came to mind: Hedwig and the Angry Inch- Think The Rocky Horror Picture Show but with slightly less camp and a whole lot more heart. It's about a man named Hansel from Berlin who gets a sex change (becoming Hedwig) in order to marry the man he's in love with and move to America. Once there, his husband leaves him and copes by becoming a glam rocker while he tries to put his life back together. Beautifully done and acted by John Cameron Mitchell and has an awesome soundtrack. The Fountain- Currently my favorite movie and (IMO) Darren Aronofsky's masterpiece. It stars Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz, who both give amazing performances, as a couple set through different time periods via reincarnation. There's more to it than that but it's difficult to explain. It's a movie that will probably require more than one viewing but it's definitely worth it. A stunning film with a gorgeous soundtrack by Clint Mansell. The Shadow of the Vampire- A wonderful take on Nosferatu- what if the actor playing Max Schreck was really a vampire playing an actor playing a vampire and decides to go after the crew? The awesome cast includes John Malkovich, Willem Dafoe and Eddie Izzard. I'll probably think of some more later...
  4. The Simpsons. That show needed to be put out of it's misery years ago and I say that as someone who grew up with it and used to love it.
  5. QUOTE (Babycat @ Aug 20 2012, 08:09 AM) I liked Jim Carrey in Man On The Moon, The Truman Show, Number 23 and his cameo in one of the Dirty Harry movies. I couldn't quite get into The Cable Guy. Or the Ace Ventura movies. That's understandable, The Cable Guy and The Ace Ventura movies aren't for everyone. Personally, I love the second Ace Ventura movie (When Nature Calls) but I'd definitely list it as a guilty pleasure. I can't watch the first one though.

Or does the movie suddently get uninteresting for some reason before you find out. The strippers win in the end, I think... Well, they are armed to the teeth in that picture. Do the werewolves even have opposable thumbs? The one on the right's armed to the teeth with a pair of something elses too..! Really? I only see one axe. Heh..! Was this a real movie? Yeah it's real. Robert Englund (Freddy Krueger) is in it too. Now I have to see it.
  7. QUOTE (Leslie145 @ Aug 14 2012, 12:38 AM) QUOTE (VampireBiscuits @ Jul 13 2012, 01:17 PM) Normally horror movies don't get to me that much but ones involving hauntings or paranormal activity are the movies that freak me out the most. I agree with you about Dakota Fanning, I think Miko Hughes (Gage from Pet Sematary, Dylan from New Nightmare) came from the same creepy kid factory. That brat has been giving me nightmares for years. Aha - you used the 2 words which always pique my interest (and I'm not talking about "vampire biscuits" ... mind you... )... Paranormal Activity. Wasn't originally keen on the first movie, but the second blew me away & by the time I got to the third & you get to see the whole story in context, I was hooked. Very simple idea, very effectively done. Can't believe though I forgot one of my top 10 films of the last few years (horror or otherwise): http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/a/ab/30_Days_of_Night_teaser_poster.jpg/220px-30_Days_of_Night_teaser_poster.jpg Beautifully filmed (the opening sequence with the ship at dusk is stunning), impeccably acted, and a completely new take on the vampire genre. Josh hartnett is the 'star' (and very good he is, too), but Danny Huston steals every scene - he may have been a good villain in 'Edge Of Darkness' (another great movie btw): http://www.wearysloth.com/Gallery/ActorsH/21462-29077.jpg ...but in 30 days Of Night... whoa! http://filmstokeepyouawake.files.wordpress.com/2007/11/danny-huston.jpg OK, OK, I'm gushing, but I can't tell you how much this film gave me faith in modern horror I've only seen the first Paranormal Activity movie and just once, when it was in the theaters. The crowd at the showing was so obnoxious that I had a difficult time getting into the film and I think it was probably for the best. I've never tried to watch it again, I think I dodged a bullet with that movie. I don't think I'd have been able to sleep very well if I'd had the full experience. 30 Days of Night was a good horror movie, mostly because of the villain you mentioned. I can't say I agree with you on Josh Hartnett's performance though, I didn't like him or Melissa George. The sense of isolation and the vampires themselves made up for it though. It was really nice to see a modern vampire movie moving away from the romantic, sparkling vampires that have been so popular lately.
  8. I wanted to see Manos: The Hands of Fate live so bad, but times are tough right now and I couldn't afford it. I'm so jealous of everyone who went! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'll be able to see Birdemic when it comes around! Speaking of Manos, I found an awesome cosplay photo from Comic Con. http://i893.photobucket.com/albums/ac133/AmokTime85/manos.jpg
  9. QUOTE (invisible airwave @ Aug 1 2012, 06:57 PM) Even when I was 15 years old when I saw this at my local theater the week it came out I thought that this movie was misunderstood by the critics and audiences. Nice to see it more accepted over the years especially with the success of all the then unknown supporting cast members like Black and Wilson as well as Apatow. Liar Liar is still my favorite Carrey comedy of all time, though. "STOP BREAKING THE LAW,A$$HOLE!!!" I love Liar Liar too- as long as you skip the last 20 minutes. "I remember when you bought me this antique silver frame from Tiffany's... TIFFANY'S?" "...Garage sale $6.50 marked down from $10.00!"
  10. QUOTE (jwoods89 @ Jul 29 2012, 04:08 PM) QUOTE (VampireBiscuits @ Jul 29 2012, 03:21 PM) QUOTE (jwoods89 @ Jul 29 2012, 01:56 PM) One of Carrey's most interesting movies that he's done IMO. Now that I think about it after he did this movie his career slowly started sloping downwards mainly due to him, or his agent trying to get him to do dramas and things like that, when in reality he is an awesome and hilarious comedian and should stick to what he's good at. I thought he had some really good dramatic roles, especially The Truman Show and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I grew up with his comedy and it was strange at first to see him doing dramas, but I think he's got great range that he doesn't get enough credit for. I'll agree with you there, I mean he isn't only good at comedy, but it's his main forte. Another one of his drama's/thrillers I liked was The Number 23. I never saw Number 23. I also liked him in Man on the Moon and I Love You Phillip Morris. Dumb and Dumber will probably always be my favorite role of his though. He had some great moments on In Living Color too.
  11. QUOTE (JohnnyBlaze @ Aug 1 2012, 09:26 PM) QUOTE (VampireBiscuits @ Aug 2 2012, 01:12 PM) Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas I love that movie. I must've seen it at least 30 times. I think it did a pretty good job of capturing the tone of the book too. Same here, I never get tired of that movie! They did do an excellent job capturing the tone of the book, I love how faithful an adaptation it is. Johnny Depp and Benico Del Toro both did amazing jobs in their roles and the soundtrack is amazing! I have a difficult time coming up with anything about the movie I don't like, it's definitely one of my very favorites.
  12. I'm really interested to see where Peter Jackson is going with this. The Hobbit is one of my favorite books and I watched the crap out of the animated version as a kid. I've really been looking forward to this movie for years now. I wonder if the material for The Hobbit will be split into two movies with the third one being based off of some of Tolkien's additional books or just one movie for The Hobbit material and two movies with their plot inspired by Tolkien's other work?
  13. QUOTE (Steevo @ Jul 24 2012, 01:42 PM) Neither. This. I had to watch both shows as a kid with my parents and didn't like either of them. The only person I thought was funny on either show was Peter Boyle in Everybody Loves Raymond.
  14. Great idea NobodysHeroine, those last two pictures are particularly drool-worthy. Here's a few more for good measure: http://i893.photobucket.com/albums/ac133/AmokTime85/rickman.jpg http://i893.photobucket.com/albums/ac133/AmokTime85/alan.jpg http://i893.photobucket.com/albums/ac133/AmokTime85/alanrickman.jpg
