  1. Happy birthday, JD! Enjoy the day!

  3. The guys should have extended CA by about three minutes so it would clock in at 69 minutes.
  4. 1-19. It varies, depending on how I feel and what I'm in the mood to listen to. 20. Feedback.
  5. I would agree about "Xanadu" from ESL. I also like "The Pass" from Rush In Rio.
  6. I voted for Natural Science, but I'm somewhat surprised there are no votes (so far) for Working Man.
  7. Look up "Bobby Pepper" and friend me.
  8. This is me now. Compare to the photo below - me 40 pounds and three years ago. http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6137/5986387840_5052106993.jpg
  9. I appreciate the birthday wishes, everyone. I've been through some tough personal stuff in recent months, but I'm feeling better about myself. Hope to catch the band in New Orleans, if things work out.
  10. I plan to run in my first 5K on March 26. I'm figuring based on my recent 1- and 2-mile runs, it might take me a bit over 40 minutes to finish. Not exactly world record time, but the goal is to finish. Here's the first cut of songs for the run, in playing order and time: 1. One Little Victory (RIR), 5:32 2. Xanadu (ESL), 12:09 3. Malignant Narcissism/De Slagwerker (S&AL), 10:41 4. Natural Science (RIR), 8:34 5. Marathon (ASOH), 6:39 Total time: 41:35
  11. My MP3 player is loaded with all of Rush's live albums for my workouts. I like the cheering, thinking that the crowds are cheering me on to get in shape. Sometimes I time myself through Rush songs. I can say that I can run a mile in under "Xanadu" on Exit Stage Left. The music - plus eliminating soft drinks and eating better - is helping me. I've lost more than 30 pounds since late-November, when I weighed in at 234. This morning, I weighed 201.8. I'm struggling to shake off the current weight plateau and get under 200 pounds. The fat TB you see below is a thing of the past. I need to load an updated photo of myself.
  12. QUOTE (Mara @ Nov 29 2010, 08:59 AM) <mutter, mutter, gripe, whine, gripe, no Atlanta, gripe, bitch, piss, moan> Okay. I'm over it. Looks like it will probably be Greensboro, though I may wait to see what the rest of the year holds - perhaps Atl. will be added. I got spoiled on my 3rd row seat last time and so don't want to take lame seats in back. But I can't really justify travel costs AND another high-price ticket for the same tour. After expressing my early excitement over the Nashville date, I've thought it over. I might wait until the rest of the schedule is announced before making a committment -- unless someone is sure she wants to meet up with me in the Music City this time. If that's the case, then Nashville it is. It'd be nice to return to Atlanta since I had a great time at the show there in September. Kinda hoping for Memphis (only 90 miles from me) to show up on the upcoming leg, but I doubt it.
  13. Show the deceased some respect. Don't call him 'Shirley.'
  14. QUOTE (The Lost Xanadu @ Nov 22 2010, 08:34 PM) When you start singing the chorus of "In the Mood" at 7:45pm I heard 'In the Mood' and 'Nobody's Hero' on the radio for the first time yesterday. Thank you, Sirius/XM, for playing real classic rock. It puts to shame the half-dozen alledged classic rock FM stations heard in this radio market. You know you're a Rush fan when you occasionally update your Facebook status with Rush lyrics and the same 10 or so people click the 'Like' link each time. That's followed by someone clueless responding to the status, asking me if I'm on drugs.
  15. Before the start of a high school cross country meet in September, I heard a very familiar song opening over the PA system. By the time Geddy got to "A modern day warrior..." I wasn't saying "Holy Crap." It was more like, "Hell yeah, that's Rush!" A woman I'd never met before was standing about five feet away, and she had the same reaction when she heard Tom Sawyer. We then talked for about 10 minutes about our passion for Rush.
  16. QUOTE (snowdogged @ Nov 24 2010, 01:34 AM) Would you people please stop bashing Miley! My achy breaky heart just can't stand the pain!
  17. Dear cute blonde Zumba instructor who attends my church, You tempt me with your sexy smile and firm body, and I like it when you give me a tight, squeezing hug when I serve as a greeter. Everyone else gets only a handshake from me. Also, when you stand in front of me during the service, all my eyes want to do is check out your fine butt. I'm so bad. Sincerely, Your friendly dirty old man
  18. I haven't been on much since the Atlanta show. I could say I went through Rush burnout or my work has picked up. But to be honest, my life since then has turned into the Eagles' song "Take it Easy." I got a world of trouble on my mind.
  19. Some photos I took in May when I vacationed in northern Arizona. The first two are in Winslow and the Standin' In the Corner Park, which is part of the historic Route 66. The last three shots are in Flagstaff. http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs109.snc4/35797_461971563134_506118134_6254111_7505787_n.jpg http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs089.snc4/35797_461971533134_506118134_6254105_7086661_n.jpg http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/hs070.ash2/36871_461955733134_506118134_6253780_3984007_n.jpg http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/hs068.ash2/36745_461955738134_506118134_6253781_7981142_n.jpg http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs018.snc4/34256_461956078134_506118134_6253786_806155_n.jpg
  20. Good Monday morning to everyone. It's nice to be posting on TRF again after coping with a few personal matters the past month and a half.
  21. I remember when I was a slender young dude. My top football playing weight was 145 pounds. Man, that lap-band surgery date in January can't get here soon enough.
  22. It's going to take a while for me to close the book on the Atlanta show and this tour. After posting photos on TRF and Facebook from the meetup, I'm starting to receive photos that were taken of my friend and I. I'm forwarding them to her. Still hoping to receive the pics of us with the Geddy lookalike. Sometime soon, I need to write a letter to the manager of the meetup spot thanking him for letting us hang out there before the show. To be honest, I don't think I'll ever get it out of my system. Too many special things happened that day.
