    1. Meeting Geddy Lee at The Agora Ballroom in Atlanta while seeing Golden Earring and Scandal the night before RUSH played The Omni March 23, 1983. 2. Pastor agreeing to let us play The Sphere during the lighting of The Unity Candle in our wedding.

  1. Always buy two if possible if you actually want to hear / play / display it. I never open them unless I get multiple copies. Color vinyl is nice to display. Most of what's on vinyl or "silver" CD is now available online for download so why turn a SEALED / MINT LP into an opened - used - played LP. The collectors I know would pay way more for a sealed LP than an opened / used one. That is if it came sealed in the first place. Plus, most color vinyls, like picture discs sound bad anyway.
  2. Tampa - Sec 307 Row D - got to sit down for the majority. Atlanta - ORCH 2 Row M - had to stand all night.
  3. That really is... huge. Now that's funny. I don't care who ya are.
  4. The blue shirt (3rd from right) is not available on rush.com anymore.
  5. Exactly. Some people have to sit. But said people are wiser if they sit in loge or upper bowl tiered seating. Precisely why I got tickets in the 300 level for Tampa. I am old now and have difficulty standing for long periods of time. I thoroughly enjoyed being able to sit down, listen to the music and watch the show with minimal interruptions. And once again... I don't put on RUSH music at home and... ummm... dance, so I sure as hell ain't gonna do it in public. I do have a bit of empathy for those who may choose to exude their passions more physically but I don't have to agree with it or like it and generally remain polite and tolerant. Tonight in Atlanta will be different. I'm 12th row center so I'll have to stand if I want to see what I paid for. It is what it is and... whatever.
  6. Was discussing set list possibilities with son. Wife asks what's the dif? Uhhh... well I prefer C right now but no one knows ... blah, blah. She asks where are they playing Memorial Day weekend. I say... here. They're here the day after but are in Tampa the day before. She says...Lets Go! Your two favorite things...RUSH and the beach. I think I cried before fainting.... or maybe after. So, it seems as if I may need to secure two tickets for Tampa asap. Then proceed with lodging, etc. Now... if there was just one more shuttle launch to complete the bucket list...
  7. Won't get home from work til 10:30 or so but will be checking in on all the details the second I get in. Probably be up late watching vids as they get posted. Then it's waiting til the 26th for the show here in Atlanta / Alpharetta. Still hoping to get someone in St Paul or Minneapolis to hook me up with some Cygnus X-1 porter from the Flat Earth Brewing Company for our pre-concert get together. Yes, it exists and the owners of the brewery are RUSH fans and the brew is named after the song. So all of y'all who are going to the St Paul show who now know or maybe already knew about it and are gonna get some of this stuff, PLEASE, get me some too. PM me if you can help me in this endeavor. Everybody got to evelate from the norm....

kw, interesting on The Floyd. When you say Floyd cant get back together, you are referring to the passing of Richard Wright? Meaning since they are short one member, they cant tour again? Under this logic, we would not be counting the post Roger Waters years as really Pink Floyd since they were without such an important member? I am in that camp. To me, Momentary Lapse and Division are good solo Gilmour albums, in no way comparable to Floyds epics. I find it so interesting that Rush and their fans have such a different view than Rogerless Floyd fans, they are adamant if one is missing its not Rush (i agree with that). So kw...and anyone else, any thoughts on Rogerless Floyd or 2/3 Rush? . The list can go on...the Who without Moon, then Entwistle, KISS without Ace and Peter, there's only one original member in Skynyrd and so forth and so on. They carried on for better or for worse. Subject to opinion. Same with Pink Floyd. There are some who can't and won't recognize them with David Gilmour let alone without Roger Waters. The Pink Floyd with Syd Barrett had it's own life albeit a very short one. The lineup with Gilmour which lasted into the early 80's took time to get going but the work they did was phenomenal, in my opinion. When Waters left, there were certain elements to both performances but both lacked the obvious. Funny thing is that they BOTH made mountains of money off each other's performances. Rick Wright wasn't legally in the band after The Wall was released. He accepted leaving but only if he could stay on to do The Wall concerts. Waters exists leaving Gilmour and Mason as Pink Floyd. Wright was reinstated as a member of Pink Floyd for the Division Bell in 1994. The 2005 Live 8 reunion was what many Floyd fans had dreamed of for so long. To me, that is the Pink Floyd.... that I prefer most. Not saying one is or isn't, just my preferred lineup. When Rick passed away, my Pink Floyd was done forever. I'm bitter with Gilmour to a degree because Mason, Wright and Waters were all so happy to have done the Live 8 thing and were all totally ready to put it all behind them and get back on the road for what could have been... anyway. I feel that Gilmour denied Wright the thing he wanted most which was to do a tour performing as Pink Floyd with Waters for a last hurrah. He knew his time was coming and they did too. Could Jon Carin cover for Rick for a reunion of sorts? Yeah, I guess but it's never gonna be the same, ever. Not up to me though. As for RUSH?? There's really nothing to discuss as far as I'm concerned. RUSH as we know it / them, are nearing their end. There is no replacing any of them period. Their uniqueness is too... uhh... unique. I saw something recently about buying a "signature" guitar from whoever. It's manufactured exactly like whoever's guitar but YOU will NEVER make it sound like he/she does cuz... you ain't them. And never will be no matter how hard you try. Put any of the guys in RUSH in another band and you'll say... that's gotta be so and so from RUSH, no ifs ands or buts. Put someone else in RUSH and you'll say... WTF?

Now that's putting things into perspective. Going back 18 years, the two bands I'd pay Big Money to see: Pink Floyd and RUSH. The Pink Floyd thing wasn't going to happen and now can't. I did get to see RUSH every time they've come to Atlanta and once in Charlotte since then and back to 1981. Getting old is a drag. I can't do some of the stuff I used to and neither can RUSH. When it's over, it's over. Bummer. I can enjoy what they offer though without much trouble (i.e. standing for a long time). I'll probably bitch some about the set list some other junk but I got tickets and that's all that matters. 18 years ago, my son was 1 going on 2. This will be his 3rd RUSH experience so life is pretty doggone good.

    Pinkpop 1979

Festivals rarely permit full sets, even for the headliners due to time constraints. My guess is that was all they played.
  11. Details coming. This is for the May 26 performance. As far as I know right now, a guy who'll be sitting in ORCH 3 has a thousand of them and will be passing them out. Waiting on set list but trying not to spoil. May be 3rd song after intermission or something like that so those who don't want to know the song can participate as well. Will advise asap.
  12. 1 wheelchair accessible ticket remains in Sec 105 Row WC. All other reserved seats as well as general admission lawn tickets (except those that are held back) are now gone. Another packed house. Getting excited. Will do the glow stick thing too but only when we're supposed to.
  13. Taco Bell mystery menu item: chalupacabra.
  14. I seriously thought this was about a Mexican Dog As in el chupacabra?
