Entre_Perpetuo Posted February 21, 2023 Posted February 21, 2023 (edited) Muse - Newton Abbott Demos Muse - Muse EP Muse - Muscle Museum EP Muse - Live Showbiz Demos Muse - Uno / Recess Alternate Versions Muse - Showbiz B-Sides Muse - Showbiz Not all of these can be considered separate records, and certainly they were collected together on the same CD as much as possible for the Origin Of Muse boxset, which is where I got them, but they are all kinda separate things so I’ve separated them as such). What’s interesting to me is how few songs from the 15 earliest demos wound up on the final debut album. There’s just three: Cave, Sober, and Overdue, and I would consider two of those to be Showbiz’s weaker cuts. A super early version of Plug In Baby, without the iconic guitar riff, also appears right from the start, but of course that song wouldn’t be finished until Origin Of Symmetry. Compare that to Queen, whose first five demo songs all made the cut for their debut album, and one of them didn’t even need to be re-recorded. Edited February 21, 2023 by Entre_Perpetuo 1

I rarely reach for the "Yellow Submarine Songtrack". Perhaps I'm overdue for a spin? 2
