Dark Matter - Pearl Jam ❤️❤️

I still need to listen to part 2 of The Tortured Poets Department. I listened to the first part on Friday.

i can't lie i played the first half way more.  not a slight against patt 2.  but the OG album just connects with me in a deep deep way.

To be fair, she wants us to pay more attention to part one. It's the collection of songs she's marketing hardest. The extra material is just extra riches. It's there for us fans who want more and are ready for it.

Judas Priest - Invincible Shield

I feel like there’s no reason for anyone else to write any new metal when JP do this, lol. Like, what’s there left to say?

I kid, of course.

I hope you kid, because as great as this is, JP don't define metal for me 🤣

I suppose all the other great metal bands would be sorely missed if they all just stopped now, lol.

Unrelated, I think you should check out the other album I posted today. Beach Day by Another Sky.  I think you might enjoy it, very beautiful 90s influenced rock with gorgeous ethereal vox.

Cloud Nothings - Final Summer

Will I probably go see them live when they roll through town next month? Yeah. Does this record excite me? No not really. Just some solid melodic punk rock. I hear Pixies a bit.

To give credit to Taylor, she tries her best to educate people on the classics. She literally namedrops them.

We live in an ignorant time.

Jacob Collier - Djesse Vol. 4

Okay I’m not as blown away the second time as I was the first, but like, I definitely do enjoy this.

Slayer- Reign In Blood

Slayer- South Of Heaven

Could someone explain to me why it's taken nearly twenty full years to f***ing gel with this band?

Worked from home for part of the day (had to take dad to another dr. appointment during the other part of the day) so I got the chance to listen to some more vinyl.  First out of the box:

Hymns Triumphant: Volume II - National Philharmonic Orchestra

More traditional Hymns.  Good, but not as good as volume I.  Next out of the box:

Pavarotti - O Holy Night

A collection of popular sacred songs performed by Pavarotti.  Decent.  Next out of the box:

Annie - The musical with the original cast

Good stuff.  I remember mom got this when it came out in the 1970's and we played it a ton.  Still enjoy it.  Last out of the box:

The Beatles - Abby Road

My favorite song on the album is "Here Comes The Sun".  Overall though the album is not as good as I remembered.

I would say the music I enjoyed the most today was the soundtrack to Annie.

What albums have you tried before? They're really only good up through the early 90s. After that it's the same old same old with them and they miss more than they hit.

I've played everything over the years. Liked them, never really loved them.

For some reason I played them last night and found the riffs and entire aura of the music intoxicating

Another Sky - Beach Day

I’m spinning this on a daily basis. This is my current aoty fav. There’s so much depth and beauty in this record, and despite a pretty cohesive sonic palette I’m still getting surprised how very different some songs are from each other. Like, there’s everything here from Big Thief to Portishead, and it’s really not that hard to hear the variety but somehow it all blends together seamlessly. I think my favorite songs right now are the title track, A Feeling, and Death Of The Author, but I’d be hard pressed to pick any lowlights here. Every song belongs and the sequencing is flawless as well.
