I used to really dislike FOTD, now I've been immersing myself in Maiden consistently for a couple of years now, I really enjoy it.

 

Definitely the "worst" Maiden album by this point in their discography by this point, it is still a remarkably consistent and frequently surprising album. They dialled back all the proggy ambition on this album and the prior No Prayer For The Dying, and to my ears they almost sound back to basics. And you know what? It wasn't something I really loved about Maiden before but now I can't get enough of it.

WHOAAAAAAAH!!! This album throws EVERYTHING into the mix at once and...well it is a lot! It's brilliant but an aural onslaught.

After days of bombastic power metal, I am desperate for something more subdued and melancholy. Paradise Lost, oh how they mean everything to me. Like a big, super sad hug

Blind Guardian- A Twist In The Myth (9/10)

 

This album gets a lot of, not hate exactly, but middling feedback. I think it's a magnificent, super catchy metal album with one great song after another!
