What's most shocking to me about this album is how it incorporates beautifully Maiden like harmonies, acoustic passages that lend an almost folky charm and huge hooks in the screamed vocals. In Flames were a huge influence on modern metal, but it's crazy how their classic era still sounds like no one else. Bizarre band, but no one can tell me that their nineties era is anything other than classic. Regardless what I think, you can tell me post-2000 IF is crap. I don't care.
