Entre_Perpetuo Posted July 16, 2020 Author Posted July 16, 2020 I've been getting into Toto over the past couple years, but Kansas edges them out for me on all fronts. 2
bluefox4000 Posted July 16, 2020 Posted July 16, 2020 Well we have a split EP Toto as a whole Leftoverture Seventh One. Mick 1

Honestly Toto would VERY narrowly win it as i adore both. but i'm a little Toto biased i admit, lol Mick Edited July 16, 2020 by bluefox4000 1

Masque.......very great album. Hydra i like the first half of it. Second half falls off a cliff fast. Mick Edited July 16, 2020 by bluefox4000 1

Segue Myles Posted July 16, 2020 Posted July 16, 2020 TotoToto IVThe Point Of Know Return I'm kind of shocked you've taken to The Seventh One so much, to me it's fine, bit no classic. 1

_hi_water._ Posted July 16, 2020 Posted July 16, 2020 Someone IRL told me that Kansas sucks and their only good song was Carry On Wayward Son . . .
Entre_Perpetuo Posted July 16, 2020 Author Posted July 16, 2020 TotoToto IVThe Point Of Know Return I'm kind of shocked you've taken to The Seventh One so much, to me it's fine, bit no classic. I don't know, it's just everything I had hoped it might be. It's got the power of the debut as well as the pristine sound of IV and the more developed songs of Hydra.
Entre_Perpetuo Posted July 16, 2020 Author Posted July 16, 2020 Someone IRL told me that Kansas sucks and their only good song was Carry On Wayward Son . . . Well to be fair, Carry On Wayward Son is a very strange outlier in Kansas' catalogue. I could see a more hard rock fan really liking that track but not appreciating the heavy prog and AOR of many of their other cuts.

It's nothing remotely like Hydra, and Hydra to me is a very half formed album. I enjoy it, but I find it very forced. Cool to see any Toto love though, and it's a great album. I like how they have something for everyone. 1
Segue Myles Posted July 16, 2020 Posted July 16, 2020 Like deciding between beige and magnolia..... Get in the bin
zepphead Posted July 16, 2020 Posted July 16, 2020 Tricky one this as they are very different bands so my vote is split -- I think Toto are the better band overall- I picked the two Kansas albums as they are two Prog-tastic efforts!
