Lorraine
Hall & Oates need more love in this thread. http://youtu.be/JsntlJZ9h1U I always think of the 70's when I think of them, but they did have good songs in the 80's as well. Here's my all-time H&O fave: http://youtu.be/XLYqTZKEpvs That's quite the video. I guess it depends on how old you are. Obviously if you were alive in the 70s you would think of them as that. But as a kid in the 80s songs like Private Eyes and Maneater were my introduction to them. They transitioned into the MTV age quite well and used it to get songs that probably would have been hits anyways to become even bigger.i wanted to thank you for bringing them up yesterday. As I said, I would never have thought of them as an 80's group, but they did have good songs in the 80's as well as the 70's, and I had a lot of fun yesterday listening to all of their songs. Only problem is now I can't get "Say It Isn't So" out of my head. Edited June 6, 2019 by Lorraine

goose
Love them or hate them, Culture Club was all over the airwaves (and MTV) with I'll Tumble 4 Ya, Do You Really Want To Hurt Me, Church of the Poison Mind, Time (Clock of the Heart), and of course Karma Chameleon.

I used to like them and am in need of some cheery band to listen to that doesn't have a boatload of memories attached. Thanks! I think Mike wrote it. They couldn't work a complete song out from Mike's demo and gave it to Don who whipped up Boys of Summer from it in a few hours. It took Tom a long time before he could listen to it when it would come on the radio. That's how mad it made him that he gave the song away. Love the Boys of Summer and most of the other songs you listed as well, especially Easy Lover and Simple Minds. Jeff Watson (the guitarist who did the tapping with all 4 fingers) is gone but Mr. Whammy Bar, Brad Gillis, and the singing drummer, Kelly Keagy, are still there.
