Fordgalaxy Posted November 8, 2018 Posted November 8, 2018 Why, in the 21st century, is there a non-religious message board that censors words like f**k, c***, or other "offensive" words? When we see those things with the asterisks, we ALL know what were reading and there are ways to get around it if you f ucking want to. Whoever controls that kind of thing should turn it off since most of us are adults and the rare child who happens to read something has almost certainly heard or read those filthy words elsewhere. And why aren't all of the curse words censored? Who deemed f**k to be worse than shit? So silly. 6
toymaker Posted November 8, 2018 Posted November 8, 2018 Jesus is more irritated by the indiscriminate use of apostrophes. That's a smitin' offense. Or . . . I guess it was the Old Man that did all the smitin'. 4
toymaker Posted November 8, 2018 Posted November 8, 2018 Why do you hate contractions? :( I love contractions. Grammatically speaking, of course. 3

"Shit" is perfectly okay, yet "f**k" and "c***" and similar R-rated words are bleeped. Yes, there were a lot of young people on this board in the earlier years, which is why we used the word filters. We wanted a family- and work-friendly board. Simple. 9

On a board like this, it's filter it or don't filter it. 2

Lucas Posted November 8, 2018 Posted November 8, 2018 Words ?? Words are for lies, words are excuses, words can be a waste of time Actions ?? .. now that's a whole different story 3

We probably would have lifted them in SOCN by now. 2

If there's one place that could use lighter or no language filters, it's the restricted-access, know-what-you're-getting-into realm of SOCN. 2
Permanent-Rush Posted November 8, 2018 Posted November 8, 2018 I'm one of the younger folks here and even I'm okay with those words being used around my presence.
J2112YYZ Posted November 8, 2018 Posted November 8, 2018 f**k is even said on basic cable tv shows these days. Even a family friendly show like the Goldberg's on a major network they'll use f**k one time in multiple episodes. They bleep it out but we still know what they're saying. To me "bad words" became obsolete when the internet made its way into people's homes. They are so many things that people of all ages can look up that are way worse than if somebody says f**k, shit or whatever other words are considered "bad". 3

Why sound like a Juggalo out on the street? (Speaking from personal experience there with a friend of my daughter's. . . Whoop whoop. :o )LOL. If you can think of it, there is probably a porn site for it. If you dare, look up Tug Rats (based on the children's show, Rug Rats). It's bad porn, not weird like Lemon Party or meatspin. 2

vaportrailer Posted November 8, 2018 Posted November 8, 2018 Words can be used to communicate ideas. They can also be used to communicate nothing. They are indeed a wonder. They can also be abused, bent and twisted out of recognizable context. This is called "Corporate Speak." 4
