Both can be hit and miss, but I'll go with Elton as having the more enduring legacy.

Songs In The Attic is the best album from either artist, though.

I think it's tough for either of them to top "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road."

I agree. Still one of my top favorite albums of all time.

I almost forgot that I saw him in 1977 or 1978 at MSG.

That;s funny. That's before you were born, Mick. :codger:

around 8 years before, lol

My grandma might have been at that concert with you. She loved Elton.

Mick

It was the Captain Fantastic tour concert. I had a t-shirt from it.

That's interesting. I saw that tour as well but in Cincinnati.

Elton John is a better musician and composer. He also has a better singing voice. Billy Joel is too arrogant and obnoxious for my liking. I have 2 Elton John albums. I have never bought any of Billy Joel's music. I'm not saying he hasn't made a major impact on the music industry. He's just not my cup of tea. When I saw Gavin Degraw, he did a Billy Joel cover.

I saw a ballet once that featured Elton John's music. One of my coworkers was named after him. I listen to this song every year on February 14. :)

My sister and I used to sing along to Crocodile Rock when we were kids. My mom hated that song, which made us like it even more.

Madman Across the Water is fantastic too.

Billy Joel comes across as goofy and nerdy at times.

I did a search and was surprised this poll hasn't been done yet.

I've been on a bit of an Elton kick the past few days and stumbled upon a cool video of the two of them doing "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" so I thought I'd jump on the poll bandwagon.

Wow 73!!! This is a very rare moment! Love it!

I took my parents to see Billy Joel and Elton John when they performed together in Oakland California many many years ago.

I love them both.

Very hard to choose. "Yellow Brick" is a perfect album." I grew up on that 8 track thanks to my parents! However, "52nd Street" and "The Stranger" are also masterpieces.

I "Honestly" I mean honestly don't know who to choose.

They toured together for a reason.

I have to go with Elton. "Funeral For A Friend/Love Lies Bleeding" is it for me.

But shit.

Then there is "Scenes From An Italian Restaurant."

UGH!

PIANO PROG!

Ok....

ELTON
