  1. Sadly a sign of the times. Damn you Internet!!!
  2. Yeah, I had a flick thru some of this ... pretty good and as you rightly say, a great song selection.
  3. The more I try to choose favourites, the more I am coming to the conclusion that they are pretty much all damn good!
  4. I can't give an overall ranking because at the moment my favourite tracks are changing every time I listen to it! But currently Live and Let Live and Road To Joy are doing it for me.
  5. I agree that it's not quite up there with the first four albums (a near impossible task!) But yes, it is a great album and certainly his best, as you say, in a LONG time!
  6. At times yes (75 & 77 tours) but at times just simply incredible.
  7. There was a long running Zeppelin fanzine created by Dave Lewis (I think it now exists as a website) called 'Tight but Loose' which was a phrase used to describe Zeppelin live - a tight rhythm section allowing lots of improvisation by the front men. One of the reasons why I have over a hundred live Zeppelin bootleg shows is that no two performances were really close to being the same. I loved the longer improvised set pieces , but I know some of my mates would have slagged me and said that they were just boring, over indulgent excesses! Ya can't please everyone! I would also say that the more consistently great performances occurred during the tours prior to 1975. By '75 Jimmy was well in the grip of various addictions and this showed in his performances on some of the 1975 and 1977 gigs. However for all the 'lows' of these tours, there were some great nights like Seattle & London in '75 and L.A. in '77.
  8. One of my favourite albums of 2023. An absolutely superb listen. I had heard a lot of the tracks as they were drip-fed throughout the year but the final album release still had a big impact on me. One thing though ........ I can't decide whether I prefer the Bright-side mix or the Dark-side mix.
  9. Two greats of the game. I don't really remember Zagallo as a player .... I was about 7 when he finished playing, but I certainly remember him managing the legendary 1970 Brazilian team. As for Der Kaiser ... he played for the mighty Bayern Munich as I was growing up. A legend. RIP Mario & Franz.
  10. I heard this news this evening. I've always liked Magnum and have been fortunate enough to see them several times over the years. When they announced recently that they had cancelled the upcoming UK tour due to an illness Tony had, I hadn't realised just how bad it was. Regarding the discussions above re the possibility of Magnum continuing, I would say no chance whatsoever. But at least we will have a brand new album to listen to and for me personally, many years of great memories, from a great band. RIP Tony.
  11. I haven't been here for a while but I felt I had to pay my respects to 'Der Kaiser'. One of the greatest players of my generation (or any other for that matter!) RIP Franz.
  12. He played a big role in KB's career both as bass player and engineer. RIP Del.
  13. I listened to a lot of new stuff released in 2023 and the immediate ones that spring to mind are - 1. Peter Gabriel - I/O 2. Moon Safari - Himlabacken Vol II 3. Crown Lands - Fearless 4. Enslaved - Heimdal 5. Lars Fredrik Frøislie - Fire Fortellinger 6. Mystery - Redemption 7. Haken - Fauna 8. Green Lung - This Heathen Land 9. The Chronicles Of Father Robin - The Songs & Tales Of Airoea (Books I & II) 10. RPWL - Crime Scene 11. This Winter Machine - The Clockwork Man 12. Pattern-Seeking Animals - Spooky Action At A Distance Not in any order of preference (although at the moment I am playing Peter Gabriel & Moon Safari a lot.).
  14. I'll be back on this one, but I cannot promise such an extensive list as Entre_Perpetuo's mighty effort!!
  15. I got the hard copy for attending the gig and I also acquired the audible version. As Rhyta says, the combination of listening to Geddy's great narration, and seeing the pictures in the book, makes it a real immersive experience!
  16. For some reason over the last couple of days - When life becomes as barren And as cold as winter skies There's a beacon in the darkness In a distant pair of eyes ....
  17. As much as I enjoyed Wolverhampton, it would have been great to see Alex with him!!
  18. Maybe next time it will be Geddy AND Alex ....... perhaps playing music?? .... Only sayin'!!!!!
