I found out a great interview to Alex from May 2024 that I never read... Full of interesting things! https://blabbermouth.net/news/alex-lifeson-geddy-lee-and-i-get-substantial-offers-all-the-time-to-perform-together-again3 points

Genesis Abacab (9/10) i love genesis!!!!! You all know i prefer collins era. However it can't be denied they were the most sucseeful at morphing to pop. BY FAR. I think Abacab had the best balance of prog and pop through. Mick3 points

I got into Rush after a Mastodon interview where the band said Rush were hugely important to them. Hemispheres and Blood Mountain are soul mates.2 points
-
All their albums are rewarding. The Hunter and Once More Round The Sun are slicker, more commercial albums with all of their weirdness intact. Worth trying them! However I'm personally obsessed with Emperor Of Sand. It's a modern prog-metal classic.2 points

Rush - Hemispheres This works really well after early Mastodon.2 points

I see all of Mastodons albums as working brilliantly, I can't honestly say I know how to rate their conceptual pieces. Remission, Leviathan, Blood Mountain, Crack The Skye, Emperor Of Sand....BLOODY HELL2 points

Escape? At this point in history , let them eat me. I am tired 🤣2 points

For some reason I can picture you being chased by all the monsters from Mastodon songs across a wintery landscape...can you escape though?2 points
-
Oh absolutely. Duke is like the perfect middle ground between their dreamy eyed prog and their heartbroken but surefooted pop. Abacab loses the dreaminess and atmosphere for jarring angles and quirky edges, plus a couple absolutely unstoppable pop songs in tracks 1 and 2.2 points

Blood Mountain is extraordinary because they joined a major label...took the major labels money...and f***ing went for it even weirder than ever before! But Leviathan is a masterpiece and one of the greatest metal albums in the universe. What it achieved on a low budget is insane, it sounds MASSIVE.2 points

dense and it's one of their shorter albums, lol yea i don't know where i'd place it yet. played it like six times. put it down for now. i like it but not in love. i think i like the last 4 better honestly, lol Mick2 points

Muse has gotten like that in recent album cycles. Like, if you put out all the good songs before the album on a lower tier album before it drops, what exactly am I supposed to be excited for on release day? Lol2 points

I'm kicking myself for not going to that Bills game last night. That was so much fun.2 points

I'm determined to resist Dolby Atmos until it's finally obsolete, then I'll fiercely resist the next new whizz bang bullshit!2 points

Thank the maker. That man was Bellichek, Landry, and Shula rolled into one.2 points

That Rhino box was a surprise. Nobody saw that coming. Seems like they wanted to get some Rush out to cover the holidays. They didn't even get that right. Apparently there was some glitches with some of the covers. I don't think anyone is thinking about that Body Electric cartoon. Whoever runs the show now has no interest in history lessons.2 points

Utah Hockey beat Vegas 6-0! Backup goalie give the team it's first shut out. Avs still struggling, Wood hurt and out at least a month and Manson hurt his wrist Friday. This is just the worst year for injuries, the team can't get ahead, get 3 players back a couple of weeks ago and now 3 gone again. Friday and Saturday games were close but just couldn't finish.2 points

I guess I could double-check, but that second part is a joke, yes? If not, I've wildly underestimated how effed up the Bears are as an organization.2 points

Liverpool help Man City continue to freefall. It's looking like Arne Slot was a pretty good hiring . . .1 point

did eberflus somehow sneak onto the Cardinals sideline to influence that decision?1 point
-
At least it got Eberflus fired so O'Connell doesn't have to match wits with him in two weeks, so you can take solace in that.1 point

Well I was hoping for some Bears help Thursday but look where that got me. At least we were both rooting for the Ravens today.1 point

I'll admit I thought about getting this for a while, but I really only wanted Test For Echo on vinyl (have originals of the rest.) so I passed. Waiting pays off yet again.1 point

Alex played guitars, banjo, and mandola on 5 tracks on the album. Full credits here. https://maiahwynne.bandcamp.com/album/out-of-the-dark Also started a Maiah Wynne thread here.1 point

Luck is sometimes no further away than the opposing head coach. Once the Cardinals had a manageable shot at a TD (4th and 5 from the 5 to go up 10), you go for it. Never kick to go up six under 5 minutes to go unless the odds to make a first down are negligible.1 point

Judas Priest - Invincible Shield This is the Defenders to Firepower’s Vengeance. I rate Firepower a league above it, but this is certainly a worthy follow up. The guitar solos in particular are insanely good.1 point

Good list, I'll add the original animated The Grinch Who Stole Christmas. Planes Trains and Automobiles feels more like a Christmas movie, so it belongs here.1 point

It's a joke, obviously the Bears are waiting for Mike McCarthy to become available. Imagine their surprise when the Cowboys retain him and they have to settle for Dennis Allen.1 point

Agreed. Some are pretty underwhelming. But when it's good it's very good. I'm currently listening to the latest Super Deluxe version of Talking Heads 77. The Dolby Atmos mix is stunning.1 point

See I look at your list and I think, why have I not got some of these, and that one and this one...that's the Beatles for you though.1 point

The format of the upcoming Lamb Lies Down on Broadway super deluxe is the proper way to do it; include the blu-ray with both the CD and LP releases so everybody gets what they want with minimum fuss. Will Anthem learn this lesson and finally do it for Grace? Probably not. They also need to stop tampering with Magee's remasters by unneccesarily compressing them. Somehow, only the AFTK, Hemispheres, and PeW CDs got through unscathed. And make sure the speed is correct this time! How Sig 40's remaster being slightly faster than all other versions wasn't noticed by quality control is beyond me. Maybe that's why they only released the CD seperately in Japan and nowhere else...1 point
