  2. It was obviously done intentionally. The theme of the video is being manipulated and controlled like puppets. Come on. Geddy or Alex would've noticed that they were on the wrong sides of the stage. It was intentional. They being on the opposite sides of the stage signifies that they are not the real Alex and Geddy. They are just brainwashed pawns being controlled by their "master". It also means that it is not really their song or their video. It's a Rush in an alternate universe. So the Rush we know didn't record that song or video. The entire video is a subliminal acknowledgement that recording the song itself was a huge mistake and the horrible cheesiness of the video was all intentional to convey that to their fans. Seriously, this video might be the most brilliant thing they've ever done....so many layers.

  5. At first glance, I thought he was holding something else since the black bass blended in with his black jeans. But I thought to myself, Geddy wouldn't pose for a picture like that!

  7. Rush Fly By Night 2112 A Farewell to Kings Hemispheres (although not the full title of the song - you may or may not want to count this) Permanent Waves (title of a section of Natural Science - again you may or may not want to count this) Presto Roll the Bones Test for Echo Vapor Trail (although the song itself is titled "Vapor Trail" this should be counted) Clockwork Angels Bonus: Moving Pictures ("Moving Picture" mentioned in Available Light on the Presto album and in Workin' Them Angels on the Snakes & Arrows album) Signals ("signals get crossed" a line from Vital Signs in the previous album foreshadowed Signals, also "signals" is mentioned in Chemistry and "signal" in New World Man) Hold Your Fire ("hold your fire" is the opening lyric in Mission) A Show of Hands ("a show of hands" is a line from Prime Mover from the Hold Your Fire album which is strangely not featured on the cd release of A Show of Hands but is included on the video release) Counterparts ("my counterpart" is a lyric in Animate) Snakes & Arrows ("snakes and arrows" is a line in Armor & Sword) ok...now I'm late for work...

  8. It means, Ducks would have a hell of a time texting with wings. We use our bills, and they go well with the phone bills. :syrinx: A duck walks into a pharmacy, and asks for Chapstick. The cashier says, "Cash or check?" and the duck says, "Just put it on my bill." What kind of weather excites a pet duck? Fowl weather. What does a Duck like to eat with soup? Quackers What do you call a create of Ducks? A box of quackers. Why do ducks fly south for the winter? Because it's too far to walk. Which side of the Duck has the most feathers? The outside!

  9. I was on the front row on the Tour Of The Hemispheres (1979, Manchester 2nd night) with my mate Andy. We didn't have front row tickets but the cable for the lighting or mixing desk ran across our seats so as soon as the lights went out for Rush to come on we were ushered to the front row. Fantastic gig.

  10. I have always wondered if they really realize how much their music has done for and meant to some of us? I know Geddy has said that he knows their music has been a source of healing to many, but I wonder if they know to what extent? What I would love to do is to get that thread to him that is in the ladies' subforum here and hand it to them and say: "Read it. So you realize what you have saved some of us from. "

  13. And what would you say if you did meet them? I have no clue what I would say—I'd probably sound like a huge dork (which goes without saying, actually). "You guys are so . . . awesome. Your . . . stuff is just . . . so . . . awesome." No. I'm too old to gush. Simply: "Thank you. And please thank Neil for me as well." Neil might even pop in to meet you.... :) No doubt. He'll say: "Oh! Is that Lorraine from THE Rush Forum? I must meet her!!!"

  14. What are you gonna have for dinner though? :hail: I just posted that AND the recipe. Go with the flow girl! Too tired. Wayyyy too tired. Realize, your dealing with a Duck & a Fish. :P Now I'm just hungry. Never eat ducks let them fly free! http://www.utteraccess.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/duck.gif Mmmm some duck with some orange sauce and chow mein. You won't want to eat me! I'm not tasty!

  15. All you had to do was a google search of the lyrics and you would've found out the song title quicker than posting and asking here. I'm just sayin I haven't googled anything in two or three years. I actually shudder anytime I hear 'google' used as a verb. But that's just one guy's opinion. Besides, in this case, Narpski = Google, for me. And I much prefer that. Thanks, Narp! I actually had an inkling that it might have been called Gold, but then I thought...no, that's too easy! And I really did think the male voice was Lindsey Buckingham, hence Fleetwood Mac. (Or I guess it could have been just Buckingham/Nicks, too). She was doing lots of duets around that time seemingly. Petty, Loggins etc..... My favorite - Leather and Lace :) (with Henley)

  17. :o That's weird, I love that song. But the song which I love now by The Moody Blues was "Nights In White Satan". My brother and I would go to bed with the radio on. AM back then of course. He would crash in seconds. This song would come on and scare the sh** out of me! Maybe there is a monster under the bed or in the closet. I would go over and sleep with him. :P Edit: Thinking about it now, I believe it was related to watching "Dark Shadows". Plus, if there was a storm outside. That made it even worse. As long as y'all brought up The Moodies, I am going to say something. It is safer if I say it in this section because it won't cause WWIII out there. Do you know why I would rather see Rush call it a day while they are still on top? You don't want them to become like the Moodies who still tour, play the exact same songs every tour for the last fourteen or so years, and each time they tour, the venues are getting smaller because they have a hard time filling them (quite a decline for the band that once could sell out two concerts a day at Madison Square Garden in the late sixties and early seventies). It is embarrassing to watch, and painful too. I don't want to see the same thing happen to Rush.

I thought the same thing, Lorraine! Me too. I did a double take ... I could look at (and listen to) Geddy all day. He is the coolest man on planet Earth. :sigh:

  26. Some of the TRF members are starting to show up in my dreams. Don't think I'm some kind of a weirdo. All this proves is how utterly boring and uneventful my life is that my subconscious has to resort to filling my dreams with people I have never met! Anyway, this started last week. I forget who it was last week (one or more of the ladies here but I confess to not remembering who), but last night it was Sheldon. Sorry, Sheldon. No pics were taken.

  27. Agree to disagree. I assume you mean that the newer records are the best sounding Rush. I whole heartedly disagree. No. I meant Power Windows and Grace Under Pressure. Counterparts was very clean. Am I talking about song quality? Not necessarily. Just the sound. VT-CA have not been produced or mixed to impress.

  30. Uhm I worked two jobs with ONE day off per month while I was saving up for my tickets so don't make it sound like I'm "privileged". I work my ass off for what I want in life. Also, on that one day off that I did have I spent it driving 127 miles each way to go help my 84-year-old grandmother out. Front row - Anaheim + San Diego 2012 Fourth row - Salt Lake City 2013 Third row - Denver 2013 Anybody that doesn't like it can kiss my exhausted...

  31. Good comments. Especially about Parcells. It is a shame he didn't stay. That play off loss against Seattle really killed him. The funny thing about Romo's boneheaded plays at the wrong time, is that he has the best 4th quarter QB rating in the league I think. So he actually plays well, but has some very high profile screw-ups.

  33. Back in the day, I worked in a home improvement store, in the receiving/customer pickup area. I still remember a lady with an order in one hand and a cell phone in the other, and she was just babbling away. I walked past her several times without even looking at her. It would have been quite rude to interrupt her conversation, so I just let her be......:)

  34. Mosh pits used to be ways of communally expressing the intensity of the music and sharing the vibe but now all I see is a bunch of wankers dicking about and using it as an excuse to randomly punch and kick each other. It's devolved into probably the most excruciatingly embarrassing live spectacle and whenever I see it I want to puke into my mouth. It needs to stop.

  35. Yeah..first time actually buying tickets myself and I got front row...but I certainly had to do a lot of earning to pay for them...some legitimate...some not so much.. While I know getting the tickets can be challenging...it's not impossible. So y'all start tucking some dough away and roll the bones when it's time for them to go on sale. Even caught one of Geddy's shirts before the encore...So I guess you could say I've been there, done that, and got the t-shirt.

  40. I have been at the first row twice :D Both on Clockwork Angels Tour. First day, I was infront of Alex, I waited 6 hours to get that place, it was on a festival. (Sweden Rock Festival) and then the day after, I went to Helsinki, and then I was just lucky, and got to first row again, but this time infront of Geddy! Oh my best two days in my life! :D It was even better, when Geddy gave me a big smile during 2112, because I had been singing along on every song! :)

  42. 2007, Snakes & Arrows, Reno, NV. The local radio station (105.7) was giving away three sets of two tickets. The first set was for row 3, second set row 2, and the last set row 1. I called but never got through for the row 3 set. For row 2, I got through and was the one caller too early. I was so depressed. Finally, when the row 1 set came up I dialed and dialed. It took a while, and I was giving up, but then the phone rang through. A set of two front row tix were mine! The tickets were right in front of Geddy, which was cool because knowing all the lyrics I got to sing along with him the whole show. Lots of eye contact throughout. The closest I had ever been prior was row 9, which was awesome. But row 1...a lifetime experience. These days I just get lawn tix. I've been to the mountaintop. http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg293/goose_trf/0503082253a.jpg http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg293/goose_trf/IMAGE_012_2.jpghttp://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg293/goose_trf/0503082216.jpg Three pics from my old crappy camera phone.
