I've not seen a single argument, in this thread, that convinced me why they shouldn't. The last tours were all amazing (for me) and I'm thankful that I've seen a lot of good performances by them. Call me a fanboy but I'll take whatever they'll deliver 'cause my Rush history is too long to ignore any possible future live encounters. I'm still a fan - :musicnote: sti-hill...I am :musicnote:5 points

Ofcourse Rush should still perform live! What a stupid question!4 points

You may not be aware of this, but this thread asked for opinions...presumably all opinions are welcome, yes? The truth of the matter is it could be considered "selfish" to want them to keep touring. A case could be made both ways given their age and the wear and tear on them as human beings. I would love to see them again but not at the expense of hurting them or worse.... Where did I hear that before? :laughing guy: I agree completely. Equally selfish to put pressure on them to continue touring. When you get to be their age, maybe you will understand. :codger: There is a difference between "wanting" them to tour and putting pressure on them. I don't know them so there is no way I could possibly pressure them, I'm just over people telling them to stop when the band is saying they can do more/plan on doing more. Geddy is 29 years older than I am and he runs circles around me, I can't keep up with the man when I go to concerts so I think he's fine, he's in better shape than I am.4 points

For everybody that complains and says Rush shouldn't perform live, stop being so selfish. If you don't like it then don't go. My husband was lucky enough to start seeing the band in the 70's but me, not so much. I didn't see them until 2012 and that was partly my fault because my husband had been trying to get me into them since 2009. But a lot of us younger people are just now getting around to seeing and enjoying them, so if you don't like them, stay home. Meanwhile I'll be using up my vacation days to see as many shows as possible.4 points

Ceiling Unlimited is top tier Rush in my book. Tremendous song. Much of VT is in the same boat for me. Earthshine, Vapor Trail, How It Is, Secret Touch, Freeze are all classics to me. I love Vapor Trails. Ceiling Unlimited is good, but the lyrics keep me from considering it to be great. What does that mean, "ceiling unlimited"? I don't understand the dislike for VT myself. It has a few good songs. And even if it didn't, I would think that Rush fans would value the album because it represented Rush's "resurrection" from the "dead".3 points

I still want to get back to the boobs talk but I have lost a fairly significant amount of weight twice in my life. Recently and when I was in my early 30's. Back then I went from around 200 to 155 in around 6 months. I heard the aids stuff and "whats the matter with you?" too. You always hear the stuff like "you weren't fat before etc." Didn't bother me in the least. I was thrilled with myself and all the hard work I put in. My recent 45 lb weight loss has taken longer but I am 20 years older.....3 points

Thanks all. I will never forget the friends I've made here...and BEFORE here. I haven't been around as much as I'd like, but it means a lot to be remembered. Of course, I guess that whole "Today's Birthdays" thing helps. :) Regardless, your messages all mean a lot to me. Thank you kindly.3 points

There are few things in life better than a home-grown ripe tomato right out of your garden, sliced and lightly salted and placed onto your favorite bread with mayo. A home grown sun ripened tomato sandwich...it truly makes life slow down a bit, and the problems of the day seem to get lost somewhere where you can't seem to remember where to find them for a while... http://img.food.com/img/recipes/98/72/4/large/pichOyFoZ.jpg2 points

Have you heard Geddy sing the last few tours? He's not "getting away with it" any longer. And both Alex and Neil have slipped on their respective instruments. Geddy's bass playing is still top-notch, though...it's to watch him play that's pretty much the only reason I even go to their shows any more. You're being a bit hard on Geddy I think. The man still sings in tune, and he hits the high notes. Yes his vocal style has changed but he's definitely still "getting away with it"2 points

We all have to pack it in at some point. We are only human after all. I am just so grateful I was able to see them live for the first time back in 77'. These kicka** musicians have shamed there critics and are enjoying the fruits of life/ hard work and the riggers of touring and being away from there families. I am so proud of them still being able to put the energy, time and compassion in to what they do. :rush:2 points

As someone who was there, my experience at the time was that Rush was not widely liked among my peers not because they were "out there" but because they were considered a geeky/nerdy sci-fi band. My friends were into Molly Hatchet, AC-DC, The Cars, Jackson Brown, Van Halen, etc. Admitting you liked Rush was like admitting you were REALLY into Star Trek. Some people would be "you like Rush? That's cool," but most in that insecure, self-image conscious Jr. High age bracket would react with feigned disapproval (though few that didn't like them actually knew their music). So, looking back, Rush wasn't rejected because they were non-commericial (Yes and others were far less commercial yet were both popular and mostly accepted by the masses), but because they sang songs about black holes and warring trees in a really high register. I loved them for it but it wasn't a popular opinion for sure. PeW and MP changed all that, but it seemed like a long climb to acceptance at the time.2 points

this made me laugh so much I thought I was gonna flood the bed! Why doesn't a mod get rid of this one, eh? It's way more revealing and disgusting to boot. Double standard. Why is it disgusting? Do overweight people offend you? Not if they keep their clothes on and behave normally. I don't want to see some skinny guy doing that either. But if topless or even bathing suit attired women can't be shown for some prudish reason, why is that allowed? Well, context. I don't think that anybody is getting a hard-on or a lady-boner looking at this, it's humorous and for laughs. Overweight people do not need to "keep their clothes on and behave normally." Wow. Do you have an issue with chubby girls in two piece swimsuits as well? Depends on the level of chubbiness. Since it seems we can't post bikini clad women, it would be difficult to show examples but I certainly don't mind a woman that is considered full figured. But a woman that size of that guy^^^^^^, shouldn't be wearing a bikini any more than he should be wearing a speedo. Be careful, you are on the verge of fat-shaming here. It doesn't matter if the target is male or female, if the video is done seriously or as a joke. It all comes down to if you are at all embarrassing or disgracing a person based on the size of their body then it is fat-shaming. So what if a person is fat? No one says you have to like it. If you don't find this guy attractive because he's too heavy for you then fine. But once you start making fun of him for his weight then that is wrong. You have no right to tell someone what they can and cannot wear based on their size. If you want to make fun of someone go over to the thread about the mankinis. Those guys brought it upon themselves. Fat - shaming? More PC BS! For example, I am lean/skinny. Have been all my life. I have had people kid/joke with me about it. Is there such a thing as Skinny - shaming? That's not PC BS, when you tell somebody they shouldn't wear or do something because of their size, that is fat shaming. There is skinny shaming as well, yes and I think it can be just as hurtful. But we have to admit overweight people take the brunt of it from society. I never looked through this thread at all until today, and had no idea there was a serious discussion going on. So, to wit...skinny-shaming. Indeed. I was really thin all my life, up until I started to get pretty close to 40 (and even now, I'm not heavy at all- just much closer to 'average', I guess, at 6'1" and close to 180). Anyway...I was at an Allman Brothers show one time, with one friend of mine, and walking back to the car after the show, we encountered this guy- not to propagate any stereotypes or anything, but he was a big, burly guy, and he sees me and says, "Dayum, you're thin!! How tall're you?" 6'1, right..."An' how much you weigh?" And at the time I was about 140, so I told him, and he says, "Dayum! What, you got AIDS or somethin'?" I'd had lots of people make jokes about me being skinny, before that. But that one was hurtful. I used to get shit for being skinny when I was younger. Then in my mid 20s, I was finally able to put on weight. I'm over 230 lbs, and it's nice, cuz nobody gives me a hard time now.2 points

I hope you're recording that so that I can buy the DVD. Be careful what you wish for. It could be X rated. :D That was what I was trying to imply. Hence the reason I've never been to a Five Guys. What kind of girl wants to say "I'm eating five guys right now"? Not me.2 points

I'll reserve some of my criticism because certain points have already been stated by others, and I don't want to pile on too much. Clockwork Angels is essentially a middling Rush album for me. From the outset, I was especially impressed by Headlong Flight and The Wreckers, and I still am. I also still enjoy the title track. The rest does nothing for me. I could write at length about the production, but I struggle more with the songs. I haven't listened to the album in just under a year and I honestly cannot remember how most of the songs go—even the choruses. For example, when I try to remember The Anarchist I'm not sure if I'm erroneously thinking of Carnies. Simply put, in my humble opinion the melodies are lacking. I just don't find the album nearly as creative or inspired as its conceptual veneer promises. Taking a wide-angle view of their catalog, Rush used to either run ahead of trends, or at least alongside them. Since Counterparts, give or take, they seem to be chasing trends, and for too long they've been stuck on this nu-metal production style that lacks tonal dynamic and space for instruments to inhale and exhale. Sadly, I agree with those who mostly hear a monolithic slab of somewhat indistinguishable parts. That said, I fully embrace the possibility that I am the problem, and not the album. And I would argue that the album's merit is relatively strong when compared to other artists who have been around for comparable lengths. Finally, I'm not trying to bash for the sake of bashing. I still love Rush; I'm a true fan; I loved the CA live show that my wife and I caught; and I'm excited to see where they go next.2 points

Well I think there is a lot wrong with the production, but a lot right with the album itself. This quite honestly outweighs any negative and I absolutely adore CA.2 points

I'm really kind of glad that I'm not an audiophile. I've been reading a lot about "bad production" and Clockwork Angels being "muddy" and a "sonic mess" and other such phrases. I'm reading about a "lack of separation" and a wall of noise. I'm so glad I can put it on and not "hear" any of that. I just hear a f***ing good album. Can I say "f***ing good album"? Love it. Face-melting glory. No mud, no mess, no fuss, no muss. Just killer rock. Diggin' it to my dying day. Hey...what's the deal with the ***? That's not what I typed!!2 points

They could do another "overture" sort of thing—play the hook/main riff of one or two tunes from the first 8 albums. That'd make some folks happy and give Geddy a singing break. One thing I didn't understand about the R30 overture was that Lifeson didn't play his solo in Bangkok. Maybe because it wouldn't sound good without the rhythm guitar behind it? I also wasn't crazy about how they stitched together the Hemispheres stuff. Anyway, a medley like this might seem like a cop-out, but I think it could be cool to hear some of those old riffs played live again: Need Some Love, Fly By Night, Best I Can, Lakeside Park, Twilight Zone, Cinderella Man, Hemispheres: Armageddon, Jacob's Ladder and Red Barchetta . . . This could be a 15 or 20 minute dream come true for some fans.2 points

let it be known that I am not TRULY annoyed by what any rush fan thinks about anything, and I'm not losing sleep over the JARGS and coseytoes out there, or the zumbi's either. different strokes for different folks, and when I go off on a tangent I'm not hoping that someone will "see the light" and start liking power windows or something. It seems like younger Rush fans severely underestimate how obscure Rush were relative to bands like Foreigner, Kansas, Boston, Kiss, Ted Nugent, Nazareth, Blue Oyster Cult, Van Halen, Bad Company, Fleetwood Mac, etc. back in the mid to late 70s.2 points

I absolutely adore the debut album. It's a New Wave masterpiece. And I really enjoy the second album Listen. I don't rely on A Flock of Seagulls to challenge my intellect. I rely on them to tap my foot. Good stuff. No guilt in the pleasure of listening to them.
