It's clear to me Rush won't do another concept/rock opera record again. They aren't into repeating themselves, so CA will be the first and last if it's kind. I think the next album may continue with the power trio sound they went for on a lot of on CA. I think what Geddy recently said here is telling: "I think what was really interesting about the post-synthesizer period was the fact that we had garnered a lot of musicality through that era and now we were trying to reapply it in a more basic three piece kind of setup. It’s interesting to come back to a place you were but you’re coming back to it with way more tools than you had when you first started." Interesting, indeed. :hail: :rush:3 points

That's fine, but Feedback was recorded by Rush in the studio. :D Yeah, I agree, feedback counts. I consider anything an album if it has more than one song (obviously not counting one song epic albums), is not a single release, and contains no material that has already been released by the band (unless it is majorly changed, or is brought back to focus when moving to a major label because they believe in that song etc.) or is planning to be released later (i.e. an album that contains a couple of songs that will be released on a later album to tide over fans does not count). So by that definition I count Feedback as an album. I have also heard of an artist or two whose first album was short enough to be considered by the masses an E.P. but yet the artist themselves considered it their first full album because it completely original material not to be rereleased on an upcoming longer album.3 points

Your time would be much better spent on chat boards telling Rush fans how stupid they are, which is not even the slightest bit pathetic I can assure you.2 points

There are girls out there just like you, or very similar. Believe me. I'm one of them. If I wasn't as old as I am, taken or half a world away, I would def go for you. ;) Just kidding. Or am I? :nya nya:2 points

I was thinking this too. He's got to have massive upper body strength. It would be wonderful to get a great big bear hug from him. I'd love it! :) :Neil: Oh my...yes it would be great to get a hug from him!2 points

If I gave him a cricket bat, I'll bet he could smack you in the head quite hard with it. :D Effeminate? He does come across as a gentle person, but effeminate is not a word I'd have chosen. I think all three of them have pacifistic tendencies, judging by interviews and the song lyrics. So they probably aren't 'big badasses', and I'm guessing they'd walk away from fights, if at all possible. Unless you threatened their families, or something.2 points

Lifeson got beat up by a female Police Officer at that hotel in Florida. He ain't being on my team, the big Jesse. Oh, so you don't want on your team someone who has the brains not to add to his woes by beating up a police officer when he's completely innocent of wrongdoing? Hmm. This is a joke thread about which member of Rush would be good in a fight. Nothing anyone might post could be more ridiculous than the initial premise.2 points

I do think it would be cool to do one based on current times. We've had past, future, and fantasy land. Neil's take on our screwed up world of today could be interesting.2 points

Totally agree. I love Rush. But since I came here, I found out my passion for Rush is nothing compared to others who seem to actually live this stuff. I wanted to start a thread titled "who would you blow out of the three" A poll actually. Like the one about who would you like to have in a fight.2 points

The reason I care about the editing is that it's my profession. So it's actually kind of impossible for me to watch any kind of video and not respond to those aspects of it.2 points

That's always been there. What is added is, instead of saying 'Brought to you by the letter "3"', it says 'Still brought to you by the letter "3"'. Also, a lady by the name of Lisa Glines is credited with Reissue design. So, it appears Mr. Syme did not have anything to do with the Remix art. She took some liberties (as did Mr. Bottrill) by adding colors to the comet ball, and other minor artistic changes. The booklet has not changed, except for the type font and credit changes.2 points

Here's a link to a quiz that exists, in case you don't know your answer already: http://www.quizfarm.com/quizzes/Rush/Big_Tommy_P/which-member-of-rush-are-you/ I scored as Alex Lifeson, which probably means I'm on an emotional high right now and I had too much coffee again. I'll probably be Neil in a couple of weeks, in which case I'll be on the forum with the iPad in bed while complaining about my life and cursing society. I just wish I could reach a Geddy-style equilibrium once in a while.1 point

I view Clockwork Angels as such a masterpiece that I'm spoiled now. I kind of don't want to go back to the days of 8 or 10 loosely, thematically linked songs. I want the next album to be another concept piece to continue building upon the success of Clockwork Angels. Who agrees?1 point

I was thinking this too. He's got to have massive upper body strength. It would be wonderful to get a great big bear hug from him. I'd love it! :) :Neil: Neil isn't the huggy type sadly...or so its seems. I hope he is with those who mean the most to him in his life. I'm sure he is in that sense. With everyone else he's probably the "Okay, but that's it and then you need to get out of here" type of bear hug guy.1 point

Though it's not a concept album, wouldn't Snakes and Arrows be considered that? I could see it this way.1 point

This. Honestly? I just want another great Rush album! But an extended piece written in a modern style would be really sweet!1 point
-
I want one, extended conceptual piece like 2112, Hemishperes, or Lamneth. They don't have to do a full album...the 2112 or CoS formula would be perfect in my mind. And to be clear, that doesn't mean they need to go to the 1976 sound. Stay modern, advance your sound, but do it in a different format. Oh, and don't overlayer the guitars, have too many Geddys, and mix the album well :D1 point

I'm not totally where they should go next. My first thought is that now they need a good break from it all. Too much exhaustion could lead to a poor new effort.1 point

The eruption of the Krakatoa volcano near Indonesia in 1883 is the loudest documented sound in human history. It could be heard in Australia some 2,000 miles away. Some sailors on boats a couple hundred miles away lost their hearing.1 point

Here I am with my oldest daughter. We were at a wedding on Saturday. She's the little Rush fan in the family. Since I took her to her first Rush show in June, she has been become a Rush freak. She has even asked my wife to play Rush in the car. She has determined that her favorite Rush songs are Limelight and The Garden. :haz:1 point

I wish I had words with which to comfort you. Betrayal is something I could never understand. I still don't. Don't miss her so much. From what you have written, she doesn't sound like she is worth it, and she doesn't sound like she was (or is) worthy of your friendship.1 point
