  1. Past hour
  2. I like when albums begin with something punchy, then run through the gears, changing tempos and pacing, creating dynamism with a sense of ebb and flow, building to something summative and maybe a little melancholy (the album is over, after all). My all-time favorite album closer is Pink Floyd's "High Hopes," but the rest of that album doesn't have enough variation to really be a good example. I do think Clockwork Angels works well, but what can top . . .
  3. That new Lacuna Coil track is pretty bland. Even more than Never Dawn. Even with help from another band the song isn't much. The new Within Temptation single is much better. At least the chorus has a hook.
  4. Today
  5. This new album has no clear pop singles, it's very morose and honest and it's like...you know Back To December, where she looks within and sees mistakes she's made? It's that vibe. It's reminding me of solo Phil Collins, with a subtle return of guitars at times and the drumming sounds live and dynamic. It sounds like an album she needed to me rather than HEY, HERE ARE MORE BANGERS. I don't know if this will sell as well as previous works but it could be her Tunnel Of Love.
  6. Does anyone think the management company has gotten the message about that shitshow release yet? Do they read these threads?
  7. Often overlooked behind Duane & Gregg, Dickey was a real driving force within the band. A great songwriter and a fine guitarist. RIP Ramblin' Man
  8. Pearl Jam- Dark Matter And just like that, Pearl Jam delivers the goods. Don't mind if I do... Are my top two albums from two of my top three artists/bands both out today? Lacuna Coil- new single, has a title, not sure it matters Didn't like it. Bored.
  9. Taylor Swift- The Tortured Poets Department And just like that, you have my album of the year.
  10. Ouch, you're not making any friends with Rhyta with your Stars comments. Yeah, it'll be a struggle to take out Carolina. Bossy and Trottier could help.
  11. I like the Stars, they're a fun team to watch. Lots of goals off the rush. The Isles are due to beat the Canes in the playoffs at some point, not sure if it's this year, but we'll see. I'd say the Canes are the best team in the East.
  12. In Memory of Elizabeth Reed is my favorite Allmans tune, and it was written by Betts. RIP.
  13. I didn't know you cared so much about the Western Conference. Yeah, Kurashev made a stupid mistake. Good luck against the Canes.
  14. I wanted you guys to win this one so Dallas could play the Kings in the first round, and you had the lead late. Instead, a careless delay of game penalty and 6 seconds of OT later and now it's the Stars playing Vegas.
  15. Rumors by Fleetwood Mac is another great album with excellent sequencing for whatever reason; there's a whole book about the album in our public library but I've never gotten around to reading it.
