Segue Myles
I feel A mastodon obsession in the works......if this works i'm moving to try Trivium next. Mick Start at the beginning. Play Ember To Inferno and remind yourself the band was about 16/17 years old, writing alone without any label interference. It is great. 7/10 Ascendancy was a modern instant classic that made them as big as a boyband in the UK...and the sound was extreme. Likely my favourite. 10/10 The Crusade took their sound to the eighties...patchy but full of flavour. 6.5/10 Shogun is a proggier affair, a major fan fave and often regarded as one of the most overlooked metal albums of the 00's. Probably my favourite. 10/10 In Waves is just a masterpiece. Top three for me. 9/10 Vengeance Falls is full of hooks. A daring and complex slice of commercial heavy metal. 8/10 Silence In The Snow features no screams and is beautiful. 9/10 The new album, The Sin And The The Sentence, has a strong chance to be my album of the year. Unlike many of their peers, Trivium are a band who aspires to match what came before them by pushing the sounds they love forwards with a modern edge. The only time they failed really was with The Crusade.
Segue Myles
Trivium took major inspiration from In Flames early work and Metallica and in my opinion have bettered them numerous times.
Segue Myles
But follow them in order and just remember how young they were when they started. They played world class metal not even two decades into their lives.
