OldRUSHfan Posted May 21, 2018 Share Posted May 21, 2018 Sorry Folks, I was scammed and HACKED by SERIOUS HACKERS. Last Monday or Tuesday, I was contacted by people pretending to be DELL Techs telling me my computer had sent warning and ERROR messages. I thought it could be, so I went along with them, allowing a remote access for them to 'fix' my computer, as soon as they said I needed a $587 unit to 'fix' my computer, I caught on, and shut off my comp. and phone. called my CU, and shut off my Card, and changed my pw to placed they had talked about to me. MUCH SMARTER AND MORE ON GUARD PERSON I AM NOW!Had to completely WIPE MY COMPUTER clean. Re loading all I can get ahold of, but lots is GONE. Oh well. The Next day, when I was in contact with a Dell Tech I was familiar with and had worked with before, He made out a full report for me and sent it to Dell, and the Govt. cyber section. But in the end, it will be cool again! I got a mylar baloon and card and small multi-tool from my next door neighbors, which surprized the CRAP outta me! My BFF at this age, Mike called me, as he has since he was in the army in the mid to late '70s... got a call from a friend in Massachusettes in the morning...but I worked all day and the next two to restore this computer. They said that our computer had a virus and to send money for the antivirus software. We knew it was fishy and regused, so they promptly infected our computer. Those will usually tell you if there's problems with it. Yes, I have AVAST Anti Virus and almost all of the add ons they have. I take the time to do full scans also...YUM!
