"Caitlin Clark is the first player in WNBA history to average 20+ PPG & 10+ APG and not get selected as Player of the Week"  :rofl1:

Ionescu averaged 25-5-5 in earning the Eastern honor.  These WNBA people are truly petty, and marketing morons.

Is Indiana in the East?   I assume so from your comment but am not sure.

I think you can make a plausible case that 25-5-5 is better than 20+/x?/10+ (if x considerably less than 5, I guess).    It's not Angel Reese playing ping pong with the backboard to get a double double in garbage time bad.

Clark, by scoring or assisting, was involved in 66 pts.  That's a WNBA record.

Assists are subjective, rebounds are not.    Reese for MVP!

Oh...When the WNBA posted Ionescu's selection as player of the week they listed her stats with a congratulatory message and a highlight video.

The video was highlights from Clark's historic assist record performance.  The post has since bern deleted.

She finished with 34 points and the MVP. She was ridiculous.

All in the second half!  :notworthy:

How poetic that Diana Taurasi and the Olympic coach got beat on what should have been their coronation night.  WNBA old guard leadership is really showing their ass.

Seems like Caitlin purposely held back, letting others do their thing, plus once she handed the ball off to someone else she rarely got it back.

She seems pretty savvy in regards to her long term career.  Nike didn't give her $20+ million for nothing.

Boston Celtics forward Sam Hauser -- one of the NBA's most accurate 3-point shooters -- has agreed to a four-year, $45 million contract extension, his agent Jason Glushon told ESPN on Sunday.

Hauser, who will make $2 million in the 2024-25 season, will be under contract through 2028-29 on a Celtics payroll that is set to become one of the most costly in NBA history.

That money is unbelievable !   Good for you Sam !

No, I figured I'd get it in 2112.

Through three preseason games, Bronny James has the worst plus/minus of all 494 players to log exhibition minutes thus far.

After the first game, playing 13 minutes with no points, rebounds, etc, someone on Twitter posted that he was given the spot instead of earning it, and I agree. The question is, will the Lakers' management/coach have the balls to release him?

zero chance before he gets in a real game, if he continues to be as unproductive as he has been, they might send him to the G League.     But I wouldn't bet on it.

I rarely post here, but I was struck by a couple of random things:

7/12 WNBA coaches were fired at the end of the season. Madness! (I guess, just percentage-wise). More eyeballs raised expectations?

I know it makes me a sad, negative crank, but one of the reasons I can't really respect LeBron is because of all the slurpage he gets from the media. When I opened the ESPN app this morning, I saw headlines about "Bronny James gets first points" and "LeBron's greatest games back in Cleveland" and only when I scrolled down the page did I realize that Cleveland blew out the Lakers by more than twenty! Shouldn't that be the lead story here? Team Wins Game is sort of the whole point, innit? I dunno. I have a hostile reaction to bandwagons that crowded, but I'm sure it's irrational.  Still, the good news: Cleveland blew out the Lakers by more than twenty!
