Fordgalaxy
The Grateful Dead. They had to have semi-structured songs for their albums, but the concerts are seemingly one long noodle-fest. They move from one song to the next and a lot of the time the casual listener wouldn't be aware of it until they heard a word or notes they recognized. Then again, most of their audience was high as heck and probably didn't care as long as there was music.
RushCanuck
Posting in this topic is based strictly on one's opinion. After all, anyone who is making $$ in the music business has to have enough IT factor appealing to enough fans who are willing to shell out the money and demand the product. With that said, my nomination is Nickleback. djflex
Without even reading any of the other posts first ( I will go back and read them after I post) I would say off the top of my head Bob Dylan and The Dead. Yuck with a capital Y... How could I forget the Grateful Dead? Another band I've never understood the appeal. I understand the appeal kinda, but i could never really get into them. Everyone raves at their muscianship but while i respect them, im not hearing it...

Folks can hate on them all they want but their music makes me happy and sad at the same time. So many great songs. Magic and awesome harmonies...
djflex
How about bands? Who has gained more fame than they deserve? Dream theater..... I forgot to say that i think this as most of their stuff is kinda been done b4 and strikes me as dull King's X did it better...I swear DT thought they were KX in the early days... I like kings x Everything from dt seems kinda forced, if that makes sense

For those of us who aren't musicians, I would agree. But if you are a musician, then you would know what is bad, mediocre and good. I would think. But I may be wrong. Also, I'm starting to think that talent isn't all that necessary to soar to the top if you have appeal and a wheeler and dealer pushing you. How that "appeal" gets defined is anyone's guess.
