LeaveMyThingAlone Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 So I'm thinking about going "all in" for tickets for this show, namely because this is probably Rush's last concert. Being that it's not their nature to have a big to do about it and that they refuse to say with certainty this is it, I lean to nothing special happening for this show. On the other hand, it's LA, it's the last show of their tour and in the back on their minds they probably know the last show together as a band, so I'd think we'd see....something? Other then a couple added songs of course... Thoughts?
J2112YYZ Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 This is in no way the last show Rush will ever do. The only special song they will play will probably be Losing It. They won't be busting out anything they haven't played at all this tour unless they've been somehow rehearsing a song at sound check that has gone unnoticed which I seriously doubt.
Merely Space Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 The only thing I think might be different, is when they finish the last song. Will they take a little extra time to bow and wave? Soak up the adulation one last time? If they do, then I think this is it.
Catch The Mystery Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Just read this in another topic: Honestly, there are about a hundred other Rush songs I'd rather hear in LA than Losing It. LOL, I honestly I have no idea why that song is so revered. And I love Signals. It's my fave Rush album. There are at least 5 other Signals tracks I'd rather hear than Losing It. I have heard rumblings that the Forum gig will get an outta the blue shocker one-time-only deep cut. I've even heard what it might be. Hint. C.P. ;)
JBsDWdrums Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 (edited) Hmmmm one thing I noticed...on you tube the Philly final farewell sounded more "final" than when I saw em earlier in Atl....Geddy thanked Philly..like caught himself...thanked PA..( being from Pittsburgh I noticed)...and in general...it just sounded...more...resigned? I guess? Edited July 28, 2015 by JBsDWdrums
tomhealey Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 1. I will be surprised if we get a song not played elsewhere on the tour. There's no rumors of them sound-checking anything, and it just doesn't seem like them to just wing it.2. I've mentioned before that Audrey Solomon lives in LA, and would be a great choice to play violin on Losing it. I'm bringing my "Just Here To See Audrey" shirt, just in case.3. I was wondering this week if Neil will take the opportunity to come to the front of the stage after the show and bow. I'd like to think he could graciously accept that applause at least once. If he doesn't, that's his choice, and I don't have any problem with it, but I think it would be nice from a fan perspective. 1
Freeze Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 My prediction is the band ends the show almost like every other show , some waves and a "hope to see you again sometime the road". They have hinted in more than one interview that this might not be the end of the road as far as live playing goes. As for playing a surprise song not performed earlier isn`t very Rush-like either , but if there's one tour they actually might do it this tour is it. 2

rocketom Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 They may play "Losing It" thats it, no additional songs although some other musicians could make a special appearence.
Lorraine Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Keep an eye out for their families that night. If this is truly THE END, I would think maybe they would fly out for the show. Even Geddy's Mommy. Unless, of course, they are all so thankful it is finally all over, their attitude is more along the lines of Bette Davis' towards Leslie Howard in the old movie Of Human Bondage: "Good riddance to bad rubbish!" :)

But one last deep cut outta the blue? Possible. :)

madrushian Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 It would be cool to find out what famous people will come see the show since it is LA and the last major tour concert they do. Other than a special guest violinist (Ben Mink if the band is fly people out). It would be cool to have them do a final setlist of every song played during the tour. Though I dont think it will Happen.

Let those of us who still want to dream in your opinion just dream :) That's also what being a fan is about. I know that sooner or later they'll 'quit their jobs'. But if two out of three are not completley done yet who knows what might be in store. With or without Neil in tow :) And, what you're leaving TRF after Friday evening? You just give up? It's still fun to hang around here  Yes, even when they're done (touring). 3
bill1971 Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Maybe just Losing It. They don't know what the future holds so they'll just play it as usual. Now hopefully at Irvine, they wi take requests from the audience and play until midnight!
Xanadu Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 If they play "Losing It" in LA, I will be very happy. I saw three shows so far, and I saw each set. Just saw A in Vegas, I saw B in Boston and I saw C in Chicago (how lucky can a person be?) and this will be the one song that has been played on the tour that has eluded me. So I am hopeful (but NOT discontent). :) 5
EagleMoon Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 I just hope we get a good scope for the show. :) 4
jamie Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 I couldn't imagine them ending their career in LA. This just doesn't seem like it could be their last show. 2

It's still fun to hang around here  Yes, even when they're done (touring). Alex is playing in pain. Rest assured, he'll be taking a nice long break from playing the guitar. It's not just Neil that wants to gracefully step out of the spotlights. 1 of 3 will be interested in recording. A solo record from Dirk is very probable. There may even be a humble club tour behind it. I don't really see it as blunt. It's simple realism. Admittedly, I get impatient with the fanboyism, that's on me. But after reading so much self gratuitous opinions (these 'hopes' are often founded in seemingly base human greed - i.e., "I want more Rush and I don't care if they want/need to retire or not"), it gets old. Wish the Canucks well and if they decide to come out in a few years for a couple nights at Madison Square Garden, great. But expecting more touring is pretty selfish, given what they've already given to the fanbase. Far more than the usual. Rush fans are a spoiled lot. You want to be a really frustrated fan? Try heralding Van Halen. Or the Police. Or the Kinks. Or Guns n Roses. One might rightfully say that the only two bands on the planet who've consistently given to the fanbase time and time again consistently for the last 30 years are Rush and U2. I definitely don't know much. Much less know 'it all.' But I know Rush's last official touring show is on Saturday. And no, I don't stick around message boards when bands are retiring. Two of my three favorite bands are retiring this year. It's a sign of the times. My era is passing. That's why so many people are resistant. Nobody likes staring mortality in the face. Especially when the internet literally shows us these fades step by step, page by page, year by year. 1
mrfriendly Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 two of your favourite bands, who is the other one? The Who? When you say C.P. do you mean counterparts?
hcm Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 "Alex is playing in pain. Rest assured, he'll be taking a nice long break from playing the guitar" But I thought that the RS article quotes him as saying that is his favorite thing to do, kick back and just play for a couple hours every day.
Lorraine Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Nobody likes staring mortality in the face. Especially when the internet literally shows us these fades step by step, page by page, year by year. It is very hard. We were there when all of these bands first began, and here they are old men, some of whom (thinking especially of the ghastly Robert Plant) now bear a faint (if any) resemblance to their younger self. And I'm not a teenager anymore either. :codger: 1
