Stormtron Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 My dog died last night. He was a nearly 13 year old Golden Retriever and he had a good life, but man, I'm really gonna miss him. RIP Mojo. Ouch. I'm sorry for your loss. RIP Mojo Thanks you.

goose Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 My thoughts go out to all those that have posted about their recent losses, and I am moved by all the posts of support. It's nice to have a community here with such great people. This past week I've been helping my mother in law set up hospice care for my wife's father. He has been in declining health for a couple of years and recently suffered an aneurysm. My role in the family has always been that of the strong sensible "rock", moreso now than ever. I get to counsel my wife and brother in law around what exactly hospice care means, and what they should expect. It's going to be tough on us all. 2
Principled Man Posted July 4, 2015 Author Posted July 4, 2015 (edited) My dog died last night. He was a nearly 13 year old Golden Retriever and he had a good life, but man, I'm really gonna miss him. RIP Mojo. Really sorry for your loss, Stormtron. My dog Mike is getting older; he's a mix of Catahoula and Plott hound. He'll be eleven in a couple of months. He has slowed down, but he's still in very good health, for now. I know I'll never have another dog like him. He is one of a kind, man. There is something about losing the family dog that is unique. I won't say it's equal to losing a human member of the family, but there is something really special about it. Dogs are unique animals! Edited July 4, 2015 by Principled Man 4
Narps Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 (edited) My Niece is having a get together at her house this afternoon. My wife just left and I am not going. Don't feel well enough. Tired of it... Edited July 4, 2015 by Narps

Babycat Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 My Great Aunt Carrie passed away yesterday. She was 93, and the last of my grandparents' generation. All my grandparents and great aunts and uncles are now gone. :( :( :( I was really hoping to see her when I went South on vacation in September. A surprise visit was in the works. She wasn't even five feet tall, but she didn't take shit from anybody. She had a strong personality and love for life that we all envied. When I was a small child, Aunt Carrie and Uncle Joe showed me that "old people" were just as cool as everyone else!! :ebert: So sorry for your loss - she sounded like an amazing lady. Rest in peace, Miss Carrie.
Boots Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 I've had a massive crush on my art instructor for the past year. He's almost the same age as me and married to someone who looks just like me. It's so unfair. I call him "the man who should've been my husband." I secretly lurk at his Facebook page at least once a week. I've never sent him a friendship request because I'm too chicken and he's my teacher. I don't like anyone else. #SorryNotSorry

Union 5-3992 Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 One of my old hs teachers took his own life last winter. He was my favorite teacher because he got me interested in business and is responsible for my going to college for accounting. I found out this week that his ex-wife had been hounding him for money and keeping his kids from him. He tried to live a new life with a new wife and she just kept going at him trying to hurt him. He was such a nice guy who dearly loved his kids and I'll never forget him. 1

Unless you know the man and his family very well, there is much about his first marriage that is unknown to you. His suicide was probably the result of many things - not just his ex-wife. 1

He suffered from many mental conditions he hid very well so if there is anything to look at, that's the biggest thing

There is so much truth in that, and there are always two sides to every story. It's still a shame though that he chose to end his life rather than find a remedy. 1

Family dysfunctions and tragedies like this one are so preventable. What a shame.

Union was part of his "Garden" whether his teacher knew it or not isn't the issue. That is the way I see life and death anyway. He who has the fullest "Garden" at their end wins... On the flip side it is a shame what life's pressures can do to a person... :( 2
