Give me another album.

Can be Steely Dan or something else.

Maybe "Ah-ja" is more his cup of tea, Mick.

I love that album already.

What do you do when everything you listen to, all the music you have, starts to become...oh, I don't know how else to describe this...stale?

You can take an extended break from listening to music of any kind even though that's an impossible task for me. It may help freshen things up later.

Search the internet/youtube. Though wading through all the crap out there until you find something you like can be a chore.

Do you have an iPod? If you put it on shuffle, sometimes a song/band will come up that you haven't heard in ages and it will peak your interest in them. Happened to me a number of times doing this.

There's also the possibility that you've outgrown music completely and will have to give up listening to it forever ;)

Time for something else.

Tom Waits- Rain Dogs

A bit out of my comfort zone, again. Which is what I am in the mood for today.

2. Clap Hands

What on earth is this? I smell genius. Someone needs to visualise the sounds I see in my head...it is pretty trippy.

3. Cemetery Polka

A song by song summary is missing the point, this is like an art film on record, each song a bizzare scene in a montage of mad genius visions. This is ridiculously enjoyable. I feel hesitant calling this music, it is something more than that. Theatrical.

4. Jockey Full Of Bourbon

So far, my favourite. Why? Not sure, but the atmosphere conjured by all this understated musicianship is ridiculous! Less is more.

5. Tango 'til They're Sore

Is this man a pirate? Arg, matey...

The plinkity plonkity piano is funky fresh. I feel like I should be taking this seriously but it makes me laugh.

8. Hang Down Your Head

This starts off sounding like an actual song. I was almost disappointed, but thankfully it's still very odd! In contrast to the rest, this is almost a pop song!

9. Time

Not as good as the Fleetwood Mac album of the same name. ;)

*is Mick awake?*

10. Rain Dogs

Time was a downbeat beauty. This track follows it up, and once again I am intrigued by the sounds! I find it all quite similar, but the playfulness and little quirks here and there keep me beyond entertained.

Mick, is this a concept album?

Anyway, the title track is full of awesome drumming, I love this!

11. Midtown (Instrumental)

Did James Bond just lock himself in a taxi during a crisis, IN A TRAFFIC JAM?!?

Yes. Yes he did.

12. 9th And Hennepin

And the girl behind the counter has a tattooed tear

One for every year he's away she said

Such a crumbling beauty, but there's

Well, nothing wrong with her that $100 won't fix

Wow.

13. Gun Street Girl

This song reminds me a lot of Springsteen's early, unreleased songs.

I am trying to be patient. I want to replay 9th and Hennepin, but I will wait.

Another SUPERB song! Is this song mocking Springsteen's I'm Going Down? I am sure its not, it just gives me that vibe!

15. Blind Love

Either I am getting used to his style, or as this album nears the finish line the songs become more and more...song like?!

Great song. Strongly reminded of early Springsteen (the sort that didn't see release), a smidge of Bob Dylan and stacks of style. Beautiful.
