EagleMoon
Geddy on his playground. :) Thanks for posting.Looks really like a Höfner on that rack. I wonder what it looks and sounds like, if Geddy toils it.Personally, no. The character of the sound is interesting, but unless he's done something to it, it'll be "odd". we'll see. The magic is in the fingers That's what another guitarist once said too. It's all in the touch.I keep hearing that. Maybe one day I'll discover what that magic is The man I am thinking of that said it, said that people run out and buy a guitar just like the one the guitarist they admire uses and then are disappointed that they don't sound the same when they play it. But that's because it is all in the touch. This is 100% true. You can buy the same guitar/bass and amps and it still won't sound identical. The tone really is in the fingers. The way a person attacks the strings when they play, the way they fret a note..etc. all comes into play. This is why someone like Geddy or Alex or even Eddie Van Halen still sound like themselves when they play even if they play different instruments/amps. EagleMoon
I think he took all of his bass collection with him for the rehearsals. If I'd bought new basses that's what I would do. :) I'm sure he wants to see how they sound in a band situation. I doubt we're going to see all of these basses out on tour. Like the time on "Big Bang Theory" when they found the 'Next Top Model" house with a telescope and then went there. . . . :) if i didn't live in the East I'd be in!
Supersyl
I think the Double-neck is there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just watched Exit... Stage Left, and decided to take a closer look at the pics.... Look carefully at the first pic, the clearer of the two... At the extreme right, right above the monitor there is a black Rick headstock that is different, as it has the white "Rickenbacker" text instead of the white placque with black text... Follow the neck down, to the right, just barely seen above the monitor is a shorter black headstock, and if you look right under the extreme right of the monitor, you can see the bottom "swoop" extend further out than the others, you can make out the white ribbon thing around it and a couple of silver or white knobs... I think my friends the Double-Neck Rick has gone out on this trip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :geddy:

HemiBeers
They'll probably put out a rehersal pic of Al and Ged with their double necks just to yank our chain.

Please be careful with them, they are irreplaceable. They are not planning a rehearsal sesh in the Inland Empire? .
HalfwayToGone
FWIW, the neck on that fender is definitely not new. It's way old. Whether the body is new or just the finish is new can be anyone's guess, but I'm speculating that it's old and refinished.

Works with drums, too....years back a guy I knew that thought he knew how to play, went out and got a new set of Tama's (Circa 1981-82) and thought he "sounded like the Professor" (his words) I tried not to laugh...but couldn't...
