Bluefunk
An angular mass of new yoghurts. Sprawling on the fringes of the settee. I have held the whiskered tails of immorality There are also some tracks where I 'predicted' the wrong rhyme upon first hearing the song, and now I just can't forget my 'improved' version: Sunlight dances through the leavesSoft winds stir the sighing treesLying in the warm grassFeel the sun upon your ass I can do, what you doYou just do it betterI can cry, like you cryIt just makes me wetter :D

LedRush
Before I read the lyrics I've always wondered what "8 million Red Barchetta" means.andLook at the sig of Your_Lion and the lyrics of The Weapon will never be the same. And I don't even know if I had a guess as to what the lyrics for "gleaming alloy air car" were before reading them. I also thought it was "a better managed time", not "a better vanished time".
LedRush
And not even Neil knows what the lyrics to Fountain of Lamneth are. I can't even guess.
Pale Facsimile
The one that comes most quickly to mind for me (though given more time I could probably come up with others) is... in 2112..."their power grows with purple straw..." It sounds even more like that on Different Stages. Listen to the DS version and try to tell me he's not saying "purple straw"! My girlfriend discovered one when we were on vacation listening to my IPod on shuffle mode in the car..."The Garden" came on, and I usually skip over a lot of Rush songs because she can only take so much of them...but TG is one of my favorites, so I let it play. It gets to the chorus and she goes "it sounds like they're saying 'the measure of a knife...'." So from then on, on the studio version, I only hear 'knife.' I only hear 'life' on the live versions.
Bangster of Goats
Lemony cake of course... And also: Jacob's Ladder: "The clowns prepare for battle..." No One At The Bridge: "The sky is bitching, violently..." Best I Can: "Gotta eat shit to rock, I hate no small talk, I'll find a way!" Fly By Night: "My chickens are coming and I just can't pretend..." Edited December 18, 2013 by Bangster of Goats

theprestobunnies
He's a little bit afraid of dying, but he's a lot more afraid of your LION! The "Wakey-wakey" and "lemony cake" are pretty hilarious, though I'm sure I'll never be able to unhear them now!

Chronos
Oh, here's another one I always had trouble with. Instead of "By-Tor, knight of darkness,Centurion of evil, devil's prince" I always heard: "By-Tor, knight of darkness,Centurion of evil, TELL YOUR FRIENDS!" Mara
For everyone who misheard/hears the Bastille Day lyric as "lemony cake": I actually do have a lemony cake recipe. It is lemon layer cake, with lemon curd between the layers, and lemon frosting. I call it Bastille Day Cake. I make it for the office on occasion and of course the engineering staff gets the reference IMMEDIATELY.

It sounds like lemon overload, but it's really not.

I myself didn't know that until a year or two ago. I always heard it as "a rider and a ranger". Edited December 20, 2013 by Mara
