The 'Different Stages' version is by far the best. I enjoy the repeated "wheels within wheels..." part, and I was glad they axed the "art as expression" section. Those lyrics just don't fit the song, to me...they seem as though they were left over from when the band was working on TSoR or something. I used to really like the SnA Live version before I discovered Different Stages. Now when I go back to the SnA Live version, it sounds like it's in slow-motion, like they're on anti-seizure meds or something. Or maybe I'm just the one who's on anti-seizure meds. Don't develop epilepsy, kids! :)

They're still #1 for me, though I haven't listened to them QUITE as often since R40 ended. There are four bands I consider to be "my favorites," and those are: 1. RUSH 2. Metallica 3. Queen 4. Green Day I've seemed to notice over the past 10 years or so that I listen to bands a lot more when I'm either anticipating seeing them live, or if they have a new album out, and while RUSH is now essentially retired (at least by what info we have), my other three bands are all touring in 2017. I'll be making trips to Philly to see Metallica (May 12) and Queen + A.L. (July 30), and have already seen Green Day out in St. Paul a couple weeks ago and will again in August at Darien Lake, NY (about 2 hours from home sweet Syracuse). Also, both Metallica and Green Day released new albums late last year, both of which kick some serious posterior, so that's also responsible for my current Metallica/Green Day binge.

Ah, RtB...where the good is really good, and the bad is really bad. Dreamline, Roll the Bones, Bravado, Ghost of a Chance, and Where's My Thing? are all really good. The others I really don't like. Among my top four favorite bands, the only albums I can think of where the deep-album-tracks are worse than those on RtB are named "Hot Space," "St. Anger," and "Dos!"

How has no one ever noticed how desperately the title of this film needs a comma?

Laurie Anderson's "Big Science" is without a doubt the weirdest album I've ever heard.

MD is my favorite synth-era Rush song (possibly top 5 all-time, definitely top 10). It reminds me of a girl I used to work with here in Syracuse whom I had a huge crush on (oh who am I kidding, I still do, almost 8 years later), and she moved back to her hometown of...that's right...Middletown, CT. I went up to visit her in 2012 and took her to the CA Tour show in Bridgeport, hoping they'd play it, but no such luck (still a great show, though!). I was kinda mad when I found out they'd been playing it occasionally on that tour and I didn't hear it once (saw 3 CA shows). But yeah, back to the song...it's got a beautiful sound, and almost all of us can relate to the lyrics. The whole album is great, really. Still not a ginormous fan of Territories, but it doesn't take away from the cohesiveness of the album. Power Windows is a Rush powerhouse!

Not sure if anyone's read the preview pages from Neil's new book from the link in that thread, but here's a quote from a section where Neil's talking about his drumming ambitions as a teenager: "Owen Hardy in Clockwork Angels was certainly modeled after my sixteen-year-old self: 'In a world where I feel so small, I can't stop thinking big'."

I like this cover of Leave That Thing Alone: Anthrax's version of Anthem isn't bad... Also really digging the new Allegaeon cover of Subdivisions: ...and the best of the best, Lotus Land's Hemispheres Prelude...

Joey Belladonna is the friendliest rock star you'll ever meet. Whenever he's not doing Anthrax stuff, he's playing in a local classic rock cover band. called Chief Big Way, around the greater Syracuse/Central New York area. He sees himself as just a regular dude playing Journey/Bad Company/Zeppelin covers in a bar for 3-4 hours with his pals. You can go up to him before or after a show and chat as long as you'd like. He answers questions, takes all the pics people want, and signs any Anthrax stuff put in front of him. I've also had positive interactions with Joey's bandmate Scott Ian, as well as Andrew W.K., the bands Kittie, Local H, Sense Field, Ozma, Further Seems Forever, Element 101, Finch, From Autumn to Ashes, and The Movielife.
