Tombstone Mountain
Hollywood Legend Jack Nicholson Retires From Acting Posted on Sep 4, 2013 @ 3:03AM | By Dylan Howard http://i2.wp.com/amradaronline.files.wordpress.com/2013/09/101968431.jpg?zoom=1.5&crop=201px%2C47px%2C219px%2C219px&resize=236%2C236Getty He’ll still sit court side at Los Angeles Lakers’ games, but Hollywood legend Jack Nicholson has quietly retired from the movie business, RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned. The 76-year-old icon has no plans to appear in films again after a career spanning five decades.“Jack has — without fanfare — retired,” a well-placed Hollywood film insider confirmed to Radar.“There is a simple reason behind his decision — it’s memory loss. Quite frankly, at 76, Jack has memory issues and can no longer remember the lines being asked of him. He left soon after to pursue his dream to star on screen. The New Jersey-native made his film debut in a low-budget teen drama The Cry Baby Killer, in 1958, playing the title role. He’s best remembered for his Academy Award winning roles as Best Actor for One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and for As Good as It Gets. He also won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for the 1983 film Terms of Endearment.Nicholson has been nominated for a record-setting 12 Oscars, eight for Best Actor and four for Best Supporting Actor, making him the most nominated male actor in Academy Awards history.PHOTOS: Stars Who Have Been Arrested“Jack has no intention of retiring from the limelight,” said the source, who noted his regular appearances on the Hollywood party circuit, court side at his beloved Lakers and his co-presentation of the Academy Award for Best Picture with First Lady Michelle Obama, earlier this year.“He’s not retiring from public life, at all. He just doesn’t want a tribute,” added the insider. “He’s happy to tacitly join the retirees club like Sean Connery.” Edited September 4, 2013 by Tombstone Mountain
Tombstone Mountain
A sad day. He made some really shitty movies towards the end, but he had some iconic roles. My personal favorite? Hmmmm...I'll go with "The Departed"...love it when he's eating lobster with that dismembered hand

circumstantial tree
He was up for so many roles that he didn't get. He was one of several actors up for the role of the husband on "Rosemary's Baby". They said he looked too evil for the part. Go figure! The only movies I can think of that he was good in was "The Shining" and as the Joker on Batman. He also played the doctor in the film version of "Tommy". treeduck
I did enjoy Jack's stuff, but not so much his latter day comedy stuff. I prefer stuff like The Last Detail, Chinatown, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, The Shining, The Postman Always Rings Twice, The Witches of Eastwick, Batman etc...

snowdogged
Shawshank RedemptionYou just haven't got a clue, do you? Jack was not in Shawshank Redemption. It was Tim Robbins and Danny Glover in that movie. Edited September 4, 2013 by snowdogged
