I don't think I saw this one mentioned. Hottest video chick ever (IMHO, with all due respect to a young Tawny Kitaen), esp at 3:13.

Toto- Endless

Madonna- Holiday

Billy Idol- White Wedding

The Cure- Boys Don't Cry

Michael Jackson- Beat It

The Police- Every Breath You Take

Fleetwood Mac- Everywhere

Stevie Nicks- Stand Back (LOVE LOVE LOVE!)

Stevie Nicks- Rooms On Fire

Fleetwood Mac- Big Love

Not sure if any of these qualify, coz FM means nothing to me (I always think of Fleetwood Mac when I read it!).

This topic has veered off into MTV territory, so I think anything goes at this point. Like this. Don't think it made a splash on radio, but it was a the perfect video hit, taking an already memorable song and turning into a classic:

What do you think of this from the same album? It's nowhere near as good as The Ants stuff, and you just want to punch him, but I used to listen to the Friend or Foe album a fair bit in the early 80s.

Loved this song. Anyone else remember when Adam Ant played the rock star on the episode of Northern Exposure?

Great ska-revival album. Sting later donned a Beat t-shirt for some Police vids.

Loved The (English) Beat (and General Public). I still include this on the occasional mix; a classic of any decade:

Ah, Johnny Marr is my favorite guitarist (with Alex and the Radiohead collective close behind). And Ghost Town has always been an '80s favorite. Good stuff. Whoever says that '80s music sucks are 180 deg out; the '80s were the most diverse decade of all (not to say the best; it's still hard to beat the '60s, and the '70s had Zeppelin, Floyd, and punk). You had The Specials and The Jam, to The Clash and The Replacements, to Bauhaus and Skinny Puppy, to The Cure and New Order, The Smiths and U2 and Echo and the Bunnymen, Prince and Elvis Costello, Jane's Addiction and The Cult and Guns n Roses, etc etc, not to mention the stereotypical stuff like OMD and Depeche Mode. Every other decade has a signature sound or two, but the '80s had like six. People who knock the '80s seem to have only heard Sheena Easton and Cindy Lauper. Here's a nod to one of my favorite '80s releases:

Kiss On My List - Hall & Oats

Something About You - Level 42

Just Got Lucky - Jo Boxers

Break Out - Swing Out Sister

Borderline - Madonna

Only The Young - Journey

Oh Yeah - Yellow

Life In A Northern Town - The Dream Academy

Take It Away - Paul McCartney

I could go on forever. The 80's were full of wonderful POP cheese.

Pearl Jam's "Better Man" segues perfectly into this song.

3:33 on..."Sooner or later, your legs give way you hit the ground..."
