Rock Hall voters " know too much"

I don't know why but this song came to mind reading the link.

I'm not aware of too many things,

But I know what I know if you know what I mean.

Philosophy is the talk on a cereal box.

Religion is the smile on a dog.

I'm not aware of too many things,

But I know what I know if you know what I mean.

Choke me in the shallow water before I get too deep.

What I am is what I am.

Are you what you are - or what?

I'm not aware of too many things,

But I know what I know if you know what I mean.

Philosophy is a walk on the slippery rocks.

Religion is a light in the fog.

I'm not aware of too many things,

But I know what I know if you know what I mean.

Choke me in the shallow water before I get too deep.

What I am is what I am.

Are you what you are - or what?

Don't let me get too deep.

They might know a lot about what they know but they don't know much about what they don't know and apparently unaware of what they don't know.

It's important to know what you do know. It's important to know what you think you know. It's much more important to know what you don't know.

Absolutely. Most people make the mistake in underestimating what they don't know.

Blah, blah, blah complicated methodical process.. BS,,, Influence & quality is really not that difficult to research.

Guess what, I'm a rock critic also so guess I'm over qualified and "know to much"

Professional rock critic silly, like they somehow know better then the general public. It's all just a matter of opinion and being open minded enough to at least appreciate and respect a band or artist, even if there not your personal favorite.

This deserves a few songs by Edie's husband:

"They say that the left side of the brain

Controls the right

They say that the right side

Has to work hard all night

Maybe I think too much for my own good

Some people say so

Other people say no no

The fact is

You don't think as much as you could

hmmm"

or, short and sweet-

"The more I got to thinkin, The less I tend to laugh"

They may know too much, but obviously they don't know enough to let Yes, King Crimson, The Moody Blues, Jethro Tull, Kiss, Deep Purple, etc. in. That's all I really care about in terms of their knowledge base. :eyeroll:

And don't get me started on Cat Stevens, Tangerine Dream, Can, Captain Beefheart, Brian Eno, Cocteau Twins, etc...

I kinda get what he's saying but it sounds so stupid and it shows that they actually believe that they're the all-knowing musical geniuses that they aren't..

Rush was snubbed for years because those idiots' ridiculous reasoning "you can't dance to it so its just noise".. But Rush only got bigger and now they have no choice.. Shows how much they really know ;)

I've heard that they have almost a "NO PROG" policy, I can understand why they wouldn't nominate KISS, but the others you mentioned are inexcusable, they induct Guns n Roses, and Metallica, but no King Crimson, Rush, Yes or ELP? I just don't get it...

It's kind of funny, they release a statement that is supposed to be a blanket excuse of why certain people aren't in the RRHOF yet, but really it makes everyone think they're more full of shit then they already did. Time to fire their public relations people. ;)

The fact that they felt the need to release a statement attempting to explain the induction process is more revealing than what's in the statement itself. If acts were truly inducted based on "impact, influence, innovation and excellence" there wouldn't be any controversy about the Hall of Fame.

To further your point, they elect Metallica while ignoring a decade of varying types of Metal. I mean didn't bands like Maiden, Priest, and so on have a cultural affect on the decade they were in?

While I'm not the metal fan I was in my younger days, Maiden and Priest had a HUGE impact and influence. The only reason I'm not more vocal about them getting in is because there's still some MAJOR acts that pre-dated them that deserve to get in first. Regardless, they deserve to be in without question.

Agreed. I just thought of a couple of major names to point out the neglect of the genre as a whole. I am too not the "Headbanger" I used to be back in the day. Besides I had more hair to shake around in the pit then too.

 It is true. Paul Simon is one of the greatest lyricists and songwriters, ever. I love his performance too.

I love Paul Simon's music.

I have no idea if the RRHOF voters "know too much". I only know what I know, ya know?

I know what I know

I'll sing what I've said

We come and we go

It's this thing that I do in the back of my head

Punctuation is important...good job!

Technically Simon is before my time, so thankful my mom exposed me to his music.
