Besides 2.gif I have recently purchased Rainbow "Long Live Rock" and Maiden's "Edward the Great."

The Rainbow CD was an ill-advised trip down memory lane. Blackmore wasn't as good as I remembered him, and Dio was equally mediocre. The CD only really delivers on "Rainbow eyes", the soft number.

Maiden is always entertaining, even if Dickenson has a tendency to oversing on everything. I have a soft spot for Harris' lyrics (as well as his phenomenal Bass playing), which are often based on literature or history. I've always liked that stuff for some reason. The highlight of that one is "Fear of the Dark," which was recorded in Rio.

And here's a shocker: the audience is chanting very loudly w/ the band. I couldn't believe it myself. wink.gif

The Maiden CD has since been commandeered by my son, who is absolutely in love w/ "the trooper." Overall, it was a pretty solid compilation.
