Probably should not have made this thread into a poll but I have a 15 year old daughter who is totally addicted to ONE DIRECTION!

She plays their debut album over and over and over and over and over and over again on her laptop.

I mean really? Even I don't listen to a Beatles or Rush album that many times in a night!!

She is hooked as is most of the world on this corporate, commercial constructed band. Could One Direction be the new A-HA?

"Take On Me?"

Anyway I am taking my daughter to see One Direction next month in some small theater in Oakland. It seems they booked many small venues before getting HUGE!

In 2013 One Direction is playing all sold out arenas. CRAZY!!!

The teen-aged girls love this band! They scream, yell and cry tears for these young guys.

The Beatles of 2012? Perhaps!

As a 44 year old male who has been around the rock and roll block I will attending this show and observing it with an open mind.

I am sure there will be a few dads there with their daughters as well.

It's going to be insane.

What do you Rush Fans think about One Direction?

I bet you all HATE THEM!

I just watched an acoustic version of "Beautiful" and it's a lot better than that polished hit shit.

I think these boys have talent but it's obviously not for me.

They are METAL.

(And Niall is from from Mullingar, a town not far from here)

THEY ARE ROCK!

100% yes, they are the NEW BEATLES! And the new Fairy Washing Up Liquid!

They put the Calvin into Klein, the Corn into the Flake!

They are my sun, moon and stars, my east and west.

The panacea to my heartbreak, the forever-lasting plaster of love for my gaping, tear-leaking wound.

Hmm... that description mysteriously could fit absolutely all the boy bands that had come and go since the 90s.

My prediction: in 2 years nobody will remember them.

NEVER mention The Beatles and One Direction in the same sentence again..... laugh.gif

Dude, you need to re-route your daughters musical taste asap! biggrin.gif Come on dad.

Boy bands, like this, are cyclical. Those too young to remember the last incarnation are doomed to repeat the insanity. Luckily, they have about a 6 month shelf-life and will be gone before you realize it.

One Direction is awful. They'll come and go just like New Kids on the Block and 98 Degrees before them.

You'll see someone from the band on an episode of Celebrity Apprentice getting fired by Donald Trump hooked up to an oxygen tank soon.

Give it a few years, they will be gone just like every other boy band

And then there'll be another boy band in a few years and the whole boy band cycle will repeat over and over again.

Haha! Sorry Baby! My 15 year old daughter plays that album nonstop every night in her room. I just don't get it!

I won't even be playing the new Rush record a thousand times a day!!

She's addicted! Guess it could be worse. At least she isn't obsessed with rap and hip hop!!!!!

Didn't people say the same about Backstreet Boys, N'Sync, New Kids on the Block, and every other damn boy band out there?
