Hatchetaxe&saw
Another vote for Olias here. The vinyl sounds great.  But, yeah, the writing is tired, lazy and hackneyed. So far, so Classic Rock. A terrible publication. Passable if you have a passing or narrow interest in rock music. Otherwise it's shite. It's sister publication Classic Rock Presents Prog is streets ahead of it.

Mr. Not
http://laesferamusical.files.wordpress.com/2009/11/oliasjpg.jpg  Good album Cool cover Cool concept Great songs. Solid Space is my favorite:  He's still playing the songs today, too: http://youtu.be/qsfnDZdW_-8   Great work from Jon, but I will admit... His music was at one point a bit ridiculous: Edited February 1, 2012 by Ovningskora

danielmclark
QUOTE (MassProductionZone @ Feb 1 2012, 04:00 PM) I may be new to this forum but not to about 20 others and this post reeks of SPAM!Why should we have to go to another site to discuss this?Am I within the bounds of this forum to post this view?Besides , good or bad, do you have any idea how hard it is to make a record? You can take whatever view you want, but you should probably stop and think before suggesting that someone who has been a member here for four years is spamming the forum with a story about classic rock - the main genre identified with Rush - in one of the non-Rush sections (specifically, the section devoted to other bands and artists). Hatchetaxe&saw
I see from the cover they're also ripping on Hot Space. Wankers.
Stormtron
I know hating on it is the cool thing to do, but The Elder kicks ass.
tjtull
I'm not sure where I've been but I've never heard of Olias of Sunhillow. I love the album art work! Roger Dean I assume?
Hatchetaxe&saw
QUOTE (Storm Shadow @ Feb 2 2012, 12:57 PM) I know hating on it is the cool thing to do, but The Elder kicks ass. I'm not overly familiar with Kiss material bar the greatest hits, but when I was a kid one of my friends just adored The Elder. And I'd trust his judgement way more than some lazy hack. metaldad
The Elder is one of my fav Kiss albums and my 2nd fav of all the albums they did in the 80's. I have a buddy that hates Kiss but likes that album.
