The Cat 3
I love Pete Townshend and The Who, but sometimes I just doesn't understand him. I kind of feel sorry for him when I hear or read interviews with him these days. I really think he is a tortured artist, poor lad. Well, maybe really rich lad now, I guess. http://www.buzztwang.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/petetownshend_bloody.jpg

Maybe Paul McCartney bought them Still, this is a very odd decision to make. But in a world where album sales are down, I guess Pete figures he's made all the money he can off his music at this point.

Considering he had been conducting a campaign against the very thing he was cautioned about murkied the waters a bit for me. I just found your opening comment "off-colour", that's all. This thread saddens me. I'm a huge Pete Townshend fan and I could give a shit about what happened when Scotland Yard seized his hard drive. Pete is a tormented soul. His past isn't too pretty either so it is what it is. Pete is one of the greatest musicians in the world. I would rather sit down with Pete over dinner and a few drinks than hang out with Neil Peart. Say what you will about Pete and his molestation bullshit. On the playing field of music he really can't be "touched." Shit, Pete's solo material blows away anything else the members of the Who ever tried to do! Sorry Entwistle, you come in second place. Pete is a smart lad and there must something the public doesn't know about him. Why the fucck would he sell his shit? Depressing. I was selfishly hoping for one more solo album with Simon Phillips on drums. I saw The Who with Simon on the drums. He blew Ringo's fuckking kid away that's for sure! JMO Anyway, I hope Pete is ok. I was lucky enough to see Pete Townshend perform live in San Francisco at The Fillmore back in like 1998. I was only dating Wendy at the time and even she was blown away. It was just Pete with a keyboard player and his giant phone book of song lyrics. It was three hours of Heaven. Pete talked about his life and told many stories. Lots of jokes too! I felt like I had known him for years after that show. I still have my framed Fillmore poster in my living room!! They oversold the joint that night. Packed like I've never seen it before. The Who was my first ever concert in 1982 with The Clash. Pete Townshend rivals Sir Paul McCartney in writing. JMO!!!!!!! Damn I wish Pete and Paul wrote a record together!!!! I would die! librarian
No. Somehow the $$$ has not been discussed openly - yet. I have an amazing amount of respect for Mr. Townshend. I just don't want his songs ending up in toilet paper commercials, et al. and I wish people would leave him alone already.
