The Wild Bunch—just got the director's cut which came out I believe after Peckinpah's death. What a GREAT film. The dvd commentary is fantastic. Did you know his last work was directing Julian Lennon in a music vid? FYI

His last movie had more plot holes than I had ever seen in any movie. Oy vey, The Osterman Weekend was such a cluster f—k from the word 'go.' I hear it's getting remade soon as well.

We should have a Hitchcock devoted thread on here Duck, synch in TRFers and dissect away! :hail:

Weirdly enough this was the first time I watched Frenzy properly. I've seen bits of it on TV over the years many times, but I just never bothered to sit down and watch it from beginning to end. It's definitely far from Hitchcock's best and that's partly because he wasn't even on set for some of the filming because his wife was ill. The story is pretty good but it lacks the Hitchcock atmosphere and is very low key. I think having Bernard Herrmann do the score would have helped, the music here seemed out of place for the type of film.

This was Hitch's first British film for decades and it seems like he went right back to where he left off so it does seem dated in style for the time, like a 40s film instead of a 70s film. The cast lacks star quality compared to his hey day too, AH apparently wanted Michael Caine to play Bob Rusk but he turned it down, Barry Foster is actually great in the role so it doesn't matter. It was a little like watching an actor version of a 90s Robert Plant! The rest of the cast is solid but lacks a little pizzazz. Overall it was a decent thriller but even the story fell flat, the ending was weak and seemed hurried like they wanted to speed up the story. On the bright side there was plenty of black humour which I enjoyed and Billie Whitelaw was really good. The basic problem here overall is that this film is the most un-Hitchcock Hitchcock film of them all.

Thanks for that. One I don't think I've actually caught up with.

I think it's worth you watching, but don't go in expecting a classic!

A super long haul flight across the planet gave me access to movies I would never see otherwise. Here are 2 that I saw:

Total Recall (2012)...Beckinsale was incredibly hot as usual and Biel was nice too but that's pretty much it as far as my positives for this movie goes.

End of Watch...just seemed like a lot of cliches with a predictable ending. And something about Jake Gyllenhaal makes him seem very generic to me.

(The two 45 minute documentaries I saw on Great White sharks and the North & South Pole were really interesting though)

Lawless

Rather "meh" but worth the free Redbox code just to see Shia LaDouche get his ass kicked since I can't stand him at all. A naked Chastain don't hurt either.

 Yeah I saw that a few weeks ago! And he got his ass kicked by Ed Exley (LA Confidential) Mark II!!

I'll have a go at Total Recall pretty soon.
