Chinatown, 1974. Great film. Best line imo is not "Forget it Jake, it's Chinatown" but rather "Politicians ugly buildings and whores all get respectable if they last long enough." hahaha.

f*ckin hard movie and nice to see a movie looking at it from the Japanese eyes not the allies,very different shows the brutality of war from both sides and also shows that your enemy is not devoid of mercy

"By Dawns Early Light" HBO movie came out in 1990 really good movie about a US and USSR nuclear exchange but was started by a Russian separatist faction fired from inside Turkey (which is NATO) made too look like a US launch.Basically all the madness that follows is insane and very scary,it really grabs ya like it an happen......actually it could still happen ya never know

There's also a book that the movie is based on and basically gives you a rundown like this,it's been a long time since I read it so I may have some parts mixed up...here goes

 

Start of War: Separatist Russian Nuclear launch

 

Confirmed American cities hit: Soviet Nuclear launch

 

Washington, D.C.

Seattle

Colorado Springs

Los Angeles

New Orleans and Baton Rouge

Omaha (where S.A.C is located and destroyed)

Phoenix

Raleigh

 

Confirmed Soviet cities hit: US retaliation(many targets had ICBM installations greatly dropping our realtalitory options),bombers,jet aircraft from South Korea,Japan,ICBMs in Turkey,Italy,England are sent to targets

 

-Novosibirsk

-Donetsk

-Vladivostok

-Omsk

-Nakhodka

-Pushkin

- Moscow (very light nuke goes off miles away)

-Kiev

-St Petersburg (partial damage)

 

At this point war is declared basic west and east US,British,France,Canada,Australia,New Zealand,Phillipines,Isreal,Taiwan,Belgium/Luxembourg (enter as a joint effort),Netherlands,Turkey,Thailand start a command hierarchy to counter further attacks and start air,land and sea operations.As the conflict grows larger it pulls in almost all of the countries thus entering a "Total War" scenario and now WWIII.Just like WWII countries just started declaring wars on each other

 

Soviet aligns with North Korea,Nicaragua,Cuba,Syria,Iran

 

Neutral: (some up to certain points continue to stay or join the war)

Italy (never gets involved)

West Germany (Joins Allies/West helps US in land invasion of Russia but both stop as a sue for peace)

East Germany (A Russian Sattilite but most people use it as a chance to get out of communist German puppet sattilite try to join Western Germans that Bolster a force with Alliies US)

Spain (Steps up to its NATO agreements but suffers a major nuclear city hit)

South Africa

 

Soviet and it's allies attack Chinese installations

Confirmed Chinese cities hit:

 

-Peking

-Wuhan

 

During Presidnts and General Harpoon's briefing, it's mentioned that during the Soviet and American exchanges, other countries attacked each other as well ,such as a extension of the Iran and Iraq War starts up again,Arabic League starts to fall apart trying to maintain peace,Isreal surrounded with invasion emmiment re-enforces it's borders but seen as a act of aggression numerous terrorist groups and Syrian and Iran armies declare war,by now the whole Middle East has become completely destabilized,North Korea Invades South Korea with a Arabic/Asian Alliance(Seoul is taken,no damage as for small arms and artillery fire) and Southern Japan Islands like Kyushu are attacked.Pakistan and India declare war on each other,all of this is setting in the famous saying "Domino effect"

 

Other cities attacked or destroyed:

 

-Damascus

-Amman

-Baghdad (Iraq)

-Tehran (Iran)

-Jerusalem (Israel)

-Islamabad

-New Delhi (India)

-Karachi (Pakistan

-Samarkand

Many more

 

At the end of this it's estimated that the worldwide death toll was expected to reach 100 million, including radiation-related illnesses.

I find this the best Star Wars movie Part 5 is just a masterpiece cause it basically ends bad for the republic but sets it up for the major battle in the next movie."the Battle For Endor" like "The Clone Wars" is a major turning point in the Star Wars universe.I read somewhere that they are gonna use elements from "Heir to the Empire" trilogy books by Timothy Zahn great books for the next 3 movies.Grand Admiral Thrawn would make a great villan green skin ,red eyes,and that alien pet around his neck (which protects him from the Force) he has taken what is left of the broken Empire fleet and moved it to a far off area in space,all this and actor Liam McIntyre (Spartacus: Vengance & Spartacus: War of the Damned" fame so he has good fighting and sword skills) as a Jedi or some lead role will be kick ass but I'm sure something will happen and he will be in some crappy role

So I take it your big into the Star Wars universe? ;)

 

Can't say I am, or at least, can't say not up until this point. I was always in love with the visuals and action when I watched Star Wars as a kid, now that I'm revisiting them older and with a matured brain, I'm more interested in the story.. The magical effects, shots, etc certainly help in making the experience wonderful.

(this one was my favorite as a kid... I remember replaying the Endor speeder bike chase many times! Sorry, I can't lie.. It's nowhere near as great as I recall haha...)
