ETA: I had no idea! I'm the first to acknowledge that they were born in the 70s! I don't know if I should be celebrating this. Aw hell, I think the 70s were an awesome time to be kid.

70s also... Janie is older than me!

Oh no you did not just say that.

Janie knows that's true - well, for her at least. My wife is 7 months younger than me.

1971

The Yes Album (Yes)
Fragile (Yes)
Aqualung (Jethro Tull)
Tarkus (ELP)
Who's Next (The Who)
Meddle (Pink Floyd)
Pawn Hearts (VdGG)
Teaser and the Firecat (Cat Stevens)
Led Zeppelin IV
Pictures at an Exhibition (ELP)
Islands (King Crimson)

Just the ones I knew well from the Wikipedia list: there are many, many more. smile.gif

71 was an incredible year as well.

If I had to pick a year, it would probably be a 4 way tie between 1969, 1970, 1971, and 1972. I could argue any one of those years as being the best.

Oh..... the good old days of rock and roll. When it really was about making a statement against THE MAN and not about making money.

My mother-in-law was born in the 40's, but she couldn't be counted as a Rush fan. She's from the Beatles and Elvis era, but she does like "The Trees."

Well, I wouldn't call my mom a Rush fan, but she did go to the Time Machine movie with me (since she knows the area where the theater is far better than I do). She was born in 1939 cool.gif

My mom is 78, and she's been into classical music

most of her life.My grandmother was a classical

pianist,so that's all she's ever known. She wouldn't

know a rush if it landed in her lap!!..that's alright, though.

Every generation has their own musical tastes.

My dad was into 40's bigband and jazz and country.

He used to play Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash all

the time. I used to come home from HS in the 70's,

and he'd be blasting 40's bigband in the garage,so

that the whole neighborhood could hear it...I'd say

" dad..what'a doin??..are ya tryin to ruin my rock and roll

reputation??..geez..." Now, I wish he was still here to do

that...
