The Mighty Dudad
Saw this on RIAB. Didn't see it posted here yet, so thought I'd share. "According to a post on the Hudson Music Facebook page yesterday, Neil Peart gave an unannounced 1-hour drum class at The 16th Annual KoSA International Percussion Workshop, Camp & Festival at Castleton State College in Castleton, VT over the weekend. The Facebook post includes a picture of Neil at the workshop along with this caption: An unannounced class by Professor Neil Peart at Kosa/Vermont. A pretty special day... A special day indeed! Hudson Music also added the following details in the comments on the Facebook post: Neil did a great class and played drumset with a small percussion ensemble and he also played djembe with them to close out the class. A good time was had by all.... Wow. Thanks to Ken for the heads up." theredtamasrule
That's a cool looking kit (it's no red tamas but...). It's always a little odd to see Peart behind a small trap kit.

Its a f*ckin disgrace you were in the Documentary. You were in the documentary? Yeah, I was. apparently somebody in this thread jumped the gun and thought I was making an issue out of Neil giving a clinic. I don't have a problem with Neil giving a clinic. It's just that the lyric popped into my head once seeing the word "clinic". Of course, I wouldn't be interested in the clinic because I'm not a drummer. I just hope that those who attend the clinic aren't just going to meet Neil. edit: Thank you, Mara. Earthshine
What did he do at the clinic? Did he teach anything? Did he have any kind of format? Or did he just play?
Atomic
QUOTE (Earthshine @ Aug 3 2011, 01:33 PM) What did he do at the clinic? Did he teach anything? Did he have any kind of format? Or did he just play? Of course he had a program... First he said, "I'm enormously powerful..." and then he said, "watch and learn kids... watch... and learn." And then he ripped into a 6 hour 40 minute solo. Then he ran off to the bus, while giving everyone in attendence the finger and drank himself into oblivion while telling Michael what a bunch of kiss-asses they were at the clinic. Then he got on his bike the next morning and rode home to Morin Heights, QC... thinking how cool he is.

kbomb106
QUOTE (librarian @ Aug 3 2011, 04:00 PM) ^^^J/K ^^^ VT is one of the states I would actually move to - Me too. So I did. Ain't ever moving back to NJ, either. But your points are all well taken; not a lot of people live here. I may well have had more people living in my old town in NJ than live in the entire state of VT. People around here worry about a terrorist attack on the nearby nuclear plant. I point out that no self-respecting terrorist would attack Vernon, VT. How do you brag about it? "That'll show those Americans! We killed all 3 people living in the state!" At any rate, Neil should have played closer to here. My local bar has (the) Macallan.
CMWriter
I for one think it's awesome that he did that. (: But it still raises a lot of questions. What brought him there, or at least motivated him to go there? Though I suppose I should just be happy for those who got to be part of the clinic. There really is no one better to learn from than the masters.

Perhaps something personal involved, or, he's just a plain real nice guy who decided he had a day to spare for such an event.
