Been to Lakeside Park?

I always loved that song, and somehow I found out that it is a real place where the boys of Rush used to hang out. Since I have always gone up to Canada, I went there on one of my trips up there. It's just as described in the song. Of course, this was about 8 years ago or so. I'm not sure if it's still there. Any memories of being there or comments to add?

It's been plowed over and replaced by a Walmart.

Was there on a very hot day back in 2006. Rode the carousel, hung out by the lighthouse and on the pier. I thought it was a great place to hang out.

Last time I was there was back in the summer of 2009 and there was a petition we all signed to have a development company not come and destroy the park.

I haven't been by since then so I dunno what's going on there.

Did you have a drink by the lighthouse and a smoke on the pier??

Lakeside Park is still there in Port Dalhousie, Ontario, on the south shore of Lake Ontario, which is a small village close to the inland larger town of St. Catharines.

It's famous for its 5 cent/ride carosel and also PD is the home of the Henley Regatta and the town itself was once a thriving port town with ferries running to/from Toronto.

I've been there a bunch of times since my parents live in Niagara Falls. Hell, the home that serial killer Paul Bernardo and his wife Karla Homolka rented was walking distance to Lakeside Park. Thankfully, that house was bulldozed and made into a small park.

I don't smoke or drink, but some of the folks I was with did. The only bad part was that I bought some orange flavored drink that was way too sweet for beating the heat.

Lakeside Park 2009.

If you look hard enough you can make out the distant skylines of Toronto and Mississauga.

I think Lakeside Park is one of the better songs on Caress of Steel if just for the fact that many of us are old enough to have memories of places in our youth that have since fallen into disrepair.

I don't think the song is all that band.

I dug it back in the 70's...course that was the 70's.

I've never been to that part of Canada.

In 69, I went accross the river from Detroit, into

Windsor..I liked the city alot, and the view of the Detroit

skyline was bitchin' from the other side there.

Thats been my only experience of actually being in Canada.
