dude even phil collins said "we are only here cause of our 80s records"

He can't prove it either! Unless there's a string of memos somewhere specifically stating Genesis was inducted into the RRHOF because of "Illegal Alien" it's still not a fact.

but it's all that mattered with genesis

I mean, every yuppie had a copy of invisible touch in their walkman while they did their daily morning run at central park

That was/is me. [except for the yuppie...and the central park...and the running...and morning]

Invisible Touch was the first album I ever bought. I listened that thing to death. Still love the album.

I like Invisible Touch, oddly enough I listened to it at work today.

at the ceremony when they inducted genesis, jann wenner got on stage and said "these guys are only here cause of their 80s records" and phil collins was like "that's true ya old bloke"

Bullocks!

nah it's not

Yeah, it is. First, the non-Gabriel 70's albums are very good. That counts for something. And Peter Gabriel, overall, is very respected, even his time in Genesis. At the time, critics weren't into it, but in retrospect they are.

I'm not a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame admirer, but I do know more than commercial success is factored in when they admit someone.

Good point, I agree. While 80's Genesis put them over the top, the fact that they had Gabriel in the early years certainly helped. Gabriel, especially with his later work, is exactly the type of artist the RS writers/HOF types love.

Nope. It's not a fact. Why? Because it never happened! It's a theory, at best. It's 100% theory!

I'm going to be a nerd a-hole and say it is 100% hypothesis. Not a theory.
